I think that some guys are seeing more exits with the 80 ELDX. I hope to have a bolt action 22 ARC soon and hope that with the extra weight and little slower speeds that the 88 ELDM will have enough remaining to provide consistent upset with an exit.

Majority of my 80 ELDX kills so far have been caught by the offside hide, I need to go back and look at notes but I think 5 out of 13 did make a complete exit.

In saying that, the consistent and well shaped wounds that the 80 ELDX has been making out of 22 Creed speeds has been fantastic. I'll take that all day every day over an "exit".

I have 3 kills with 80 eldx. None with an exit, but with great wound channels. It’s a phenomenal killing bullet as long as the animal dies in a short distance.

First 20 shots at 100 yards from factory Tikka 19” barrel using hand loaded 88 ELDMs. Not ideal conditions at all, nasty 8-9 o clock sustaining and gusting winds. Coming up on 1,100 rounds fired through the barrel as well.

I have. When practicing and shooting groups I never let it cool down. Run then until the mirage is bad enough before it gets a break.

UM loaded these up.
So you reamed a Tikka 22-250 to 22cm? My cousin just got an 8tw Tikka to do that exact thing. Will likely run 20" with 1/2/28, threads for his AR can.

I’m getting the parts together for my 22 creed and wanted to see if anyone has used a raptor 8 on their 22 creeds. I emailed AB a while ago and they stated that the 22 creed falls under the “magnum” cartridges for barrel length restrictions. Has anyone used a raptor 8 on a 22 creed with an 18” barrel?
I’d rather not have a 22” barrel with a suppressor.
I'd follow up with them again perhaps, that sounds bizarre. I got this statement from them when I asked about a 20" 300wsm: "we aren't worried about magnum loads with less than 100 grains of powder doing any damage at 20" of barrel length"

Yes. Karl Kampfeld rechambered this original 22-250 tikka rifle. Cut it down to 19” added shoulder and threaded as well.
Got it. So it was just whatever reamer campfeld has. I was wondering if there's something to the throat diameter and geometry that has helped barrel life. That's pretty impressive at 1100rd

What have you seen for barrel life out of Tikka barrels?

I have not shot one out yet. But I think there's at least one person here that shot out a Tikka factory barrel reamed to 22cm in 800. That is what I'm basing my thoughts on.

Also don't have a 22cm. I've just been following the thread for awhile

I just want to address the ‘issue’ with the alpha brass necks. This is a very common thing to deal with in match-grade brass. I’ve seen it with ADG, Alpha and Lapua before. I know everyone wants to do as little as possible to get good handloads but sometimes that’s not an option.

When you get a new batch of brass, in my experience, you should chamfer the case mouths and tumble them in some sort of media that’s not ultra clean ie. walnut, rice, corn cob that’s ideally been used to clean fired brass before. If all you have is clean media that’s still helpful as the dust from the media still helps to lube the case mouths. Load a round. If you get deformation of the case or the bullet, you need to run an expander mandrel through all of your cases before loading.

Dealing with weird bullshit is a part of reloading. Change anything in your load or process and be prepared for oddities.

Now here is a headshot (88 eldm) pic A96458AD-6AFC-4031-B2C5-41473CFD106E.jpeg

I used them method and loaded 88 ELDMs into new Alpha brass with no issues.
