well, I don't own a 223 or a 22/250 so those aren't an option. And not worried about BC, shots will be only out to 300 yards max.
77 TMK at 22 CM velocity will be a straight up killer. Load with confidence!

I’m finishing up my loads with the 88 ELDM, but the TMKs will be up to bat soon.

O they’ll kill I’m pretty sure Lawnboi tried them on some closer range whitetails at the beginning of all this.

so going to load up some 77gr TMKs for season this year. What powder and how much do you think?

I shot a 80.5gr at about 3400 (24" barrel) last year on the buck in the picture and it went only about 15 yards before diving headfirst into the dirt, no exit.

I was thinking about 41gr of H4350. 3400 with a TMK might be too devastating on them... lol

Close range at 3000 fps they were too much. I wouldn’t plan on any front quarters being viable.

My tikka 22 creedmoor seems to be opening up. Might have to clean it; unsure of round count but probably around 500 or so and I have not been careful with long strings/hot weather shooting.

On a side note..those 80gr eldx are almost twice the cost per bullet as 88s! Was considering trying them but that aspect is off putting.

Haven't seen any recent reviews of OMR carbon prefits, anyone have an opinion? Probably going 24" , I shoot 75 eldm out of a 22"@ 3508 with my current rig. Coyote hunting only basically. Would like to get in the mid/higher 35s with the 24"

41gr of h4350 gets me 3100 from an 18” barrel

It’s a rechambered tikka 22-250. I have not done a good job keeping data on it but seemed to be 1.1-1.2” 10 shot groups and now 1.8”ish. Good setup with maven rs1.2 rokstock and sportsmatch rings with nail polish. Nothing has come loose or moved. I’ll have to shoot again to confirm it wasn’t a couple bad days at the range.

It’s pretty rusty on the outside of the barrel from snowy hunts last fall and now living on the coast..I am not very kind to ny equipment 😬

maybe there is some rust in the chamber/bore now.

In any case it’s killed a few deer now so I’ve had my moneys worth from it.

Would be curious to see what’s going on with it. If it continues to open up and you swap it out, ship it my way I’ll pay shipping 👍🏻

I’ll let ya know. I already ordered a new prefit from unknown in anticipation of burning this one out by next season. In the meantime my 25 creedmoor continues to hammer and will get the nod for Idaho in a couple weeks 👍🏻

Hi all, first post on here. Im still working my way through this thread, so I apologize if this has already been asked and answered repeatedly.

I have a Mcgowen 22 creed barrel on order, 16.5” 1/7” twist. Will go on a tikka with my Nomad TI can. Will be a lightweight hunting setup for deer and bear.
What are realistic velocity expectations for this barrel length? As well as powder and bullet choice?
Was planning to run the 88eldm, Alpha LRP brass,
Have H4350, staBALL 6.5, H4831sc, N555.

I’ve read a lot of mixed reports on h4350 being too fast and some are opting for the H4831.
Curious why I don’t see staBALL 6.5 recommended. It shoots great in my 6.5creed and seems to be a burn rate in between the 4350 and 4831. Any advice here would be appreciated.

Also my Tikka currently has a magnum bolt which I will need to trade out for a standard if anyone is interested in a swap.

Thanks for any help, been enjoying reading through this forum.

I might be the odd ball out but I’ve had pretty good luck with 4350 it will build pressure pretty fast I didn’t like it in Peterson brass the speed was there just not much in the case. With alpha brass I like it a lot more. Just a guess but with 4350 you should be close to 3000 after it breaks in I’m well above that with an 18” barrel but I also am not nice to the brass as I only plan on this barrel making it through this hunting season

There’s a ton of guys having great results with H4350. I’d try it first and then move to others if necessary. I definitely got better velocity with Staball 6.5 but my groups were better with 4350.

I started with h4350 and it shot well, but was right there on pressure. I was getting if I remember around 2900 with the 88.

H4831sc was much easier on brass and I don’t have to worry about heat, water as much as I did with the h4350. I’m also shooting 80eldx. If you run numbers on a rifle with a 16” barrel and anticipated speeds, you’re not gaining much of anything with the 88.

I’m sure eta all is fine but I prefer to use powders that are as insensitive to temp as I can.

They are proud of that interlock ring. I’m still not convinced it’s not just an 80eldm in a new box.

OAL same
BC same

Pretty slick marketing if they got us all to believe they are better and paid double the price lucky me my gun hates them to the point I was ready to tear it all down thinking something had to have came loose

I’ll happily trade 88s for them.

Thanks for the feedback, might try the H4350 as a starting point and work from there.
Will give the 80’s a shot too. I am also not convinced the eldm and eldx isn't just the same bullet with different marketing.

On another note, What’s this I read about bullets blowing up? Over spinning? Is this anything I should worry about with a 1/7” twist with certain bullets? I would assume that’s only light bullets going at very high rpm’s that could be a problem.
