Alright, just off the phone with Blaine at UM. Got my change order in for the 22 CM.
The enlarged "Bung End", as Jake describes the enlarged barrel end with 5/8x24 threads, is contoured at ACE before arriving at UM.

Finally got mine put together and out to shoot today. Shot it about 50 times, so much fun to shoot. Shot 4 types of factory ammo all under 1 MOA for 5 shot groups.

16.5” 1:8, last 10 shots with Factory Hornady 80gr ELD-M averaged 3022, figure it’ll settle in around 3050 or a little more. Tickled with it.

That’s quick for a 16” barrel!

For anyone that considered other chamberings, did you consider 22 ARC? Factory 75 eldm is said to go 3050 fps out of 24”. Looking at the load data that is approx 29 grains of powder.

So a bit slower but the recoil is further reduced by approx 36%

Absolutely not. If the speed you want can be reached in the barrel length selected there's no reason to step up, extra velocity on the high end gains very little. If your always in the open and want the speed go longer but 20 is not "too short"

Shorter barrels do tend to be a bit louder… not a huge difference thought because not matter what length, you need hearing protection

Thoughts on 75gr ELD-M vs 80gr ELD-M out of 22CM for out to 600 yards for deer? The factory Hornady 80 gr ELD-M will shoot 1 MOA but it will also throw some 1.25 MOA groups while the Copper Creek 75gr ELD-M load has been consistently under 3/4 MOA for me.

I honestly don't think you will see a significant difference. The 75 grain bullets gets love in the .223 thread.

My barrel really settled in after I got about 125-150 rounds through it. It went from 3/4" groups to almost stacking them on top of each other.

I gotcha, I'm at 87 now and hadn't seen noticeable velocity increases. The factory Hornady 80 has stayed at 3020ish while the Copper Creek 75's have been pushing 3100.

I went with a 1:7 as I intend to load 80-90 bullets in mine. I may be too fast for the lighter bullets. If that is the case, I will switch to a 1:8 on the next barrel, which will about 2 years from when I get this one.

I’d see how they shoot after barrel breaks in. I’ve switched almost everything to the 80elds. For your purposes they have almost the same drops and retained velocitys out to 600 and the 80s at 600 have a tad less wind drift with more energy. I’d go with which one shoots best and if they both end up shooting well go with the cheaper option. In general either will do fine out to 600yds. Any further though and the 80s gaining the advantage in all aspects.

Not sure about all aspects
At my velocity and elevation the 80 is exactly .1 mil less wind at 1000 yards. The 75 is .2 mils flatter to 1000. The 80 carries velocity to 1800 fps out to 825 the 75 to 810.
So inconsequential ballistic difference. Agree he should use the best shooter

Shooting both out of my 16” 223rem and 20” 22arc once you start going past 600 yards it’s very obvious the 80s drift less than the 75s much more so than the calculators show. I havnt shot them side by side enough in my 22creed yet to get the best comparison at higher speeds but I would like to test this.
At 1000yds in a 22creed 16” Bbl I wouldn’t think the wind drift difference is just .1mil in a 10mph cross wind on avg, but every barrel and load is different. Going off shooting both in my 223rem and 22arc the 80s have had less drift at distance.

With the size of the Creed case I would worry about bullets coming apart with a 1-7" depending on barrel length/velocity.
