I’ve been very happy with an 8 twist mullerworks barrel. It’s a 4 groove like I believe the Ace barrels are. I am pushing 88s at 3200 and 62 eldvts at almost 3600 out of a 22” barrel. Alpha srp brass

The 80gr ELD-X load is done.

20in barrel
41.5gr of H4350
Resized 6cm brass
LRP
2.585” coal

Trued at 960 yards, spot on 3,300fps MV.

Even though the 62gr ELD-VT with Harvey combo is around 2 MOA for ten shots, hits on a 12” target at 740 yards was silly easy. 3,600fps MV.

If you don't mind keep us posted on barrel life with that factory tikka barrel. I'll post updates on mine as well as it shoots and kills. Hoping I see better than what's been posted/estimated here, using the factory Tikka over aftermarket (higher round count out of tikka/sako when compared directly is usually the case for me).

I’m at 500 but trying to baby it after the new year it will be getting shot way more and plan to have a barrel ready for it I’ll update when I pull it.

Those eldx bullets are screaming I didn’t expect that from a 20”

I have two more .22-250 Tikka 8 twist stainless barrels ready to be chopped and re-chambered. I'm prepared for the worst haha.

Alright guys, I’m going to have my UM Tikka build be a 22CM.

It’ll be on an ACE Tikka Sporter Contour. Is there anything in particular I should ask/request as far as groove/twist/freebore?

Thinking 1:7.5” and .120 FB
Id go with a .219 bore

.218 “can” cause some issues stressing jackets and pressuring up early. But there’s plenty who run them just fine. In a 22creed though I’d go .219. When I ordered a spare barrel from Bartlein before I could tell them I wanted a .219 they recommended it to me.

Anyone know what ACE uses for bore diameter?

I believe you can specify.

Curious how the aces do.

I’m about 500ish rounds in with the current rechambered tikka. It shoots OK with the 88eld. I seem to remember more like 1” 10 shot groups when it was fresh, could be sample size. I also have not tried another bullet.

From today after putting it in a rokstockB3493857-F6ED-4F13-9792-8278D4E17050.jpeg

18”, Scythe-Ti, 80-88
The BC of the 88’s seem great but the speed and accuracy i’ve seen from MY 75-80 eld bullets from my 18” 1:8 have been superior to the accuracy i’ve seen from others shooting the 88’s.

Then again, i’m not shooting at distances that the 88 bc would make a noticeable difference.

I’m sure many people much more intelligent than me can comment on necessary freebore and groove. My 75s are loaded at 2.63 COAL in a factory horizon barrel if that helps

When I got my 22 creed I was dead set on the 88s. When they didn't shoot great I tried the 80 eldm. They shot enough faster that there was very little elevation difference out to 650 or 700 if I'm remembering correctly. Basically I'm getting enough speed from the 80s that it makes up for the slightly lower BC. Seems like a lot of people don't get great accuracy out of the 88s.

Some barrels just don’t like a particular bullet. 88s shoot very well out of my Bartlein 22 Creed and my Xcal 22-250 AI. 80s have shot great too.

I think either are a great choice, and as you’ve mentioned, you can push the 80s a bit faster to make up for the BC difference. May as well just roll with what your rifle likes!

ACE started with .218 bores but added .219 option around May this year. If you’re care, I’d ask if the .219 option adds any duration to the wait, added 5 or so months to my “in stock” purchase. I wouldn’t think it’d make a difference now though.
Great info bud.

Email sent to them to request a 22 CM, .219 bore, .120 FB, 1-7.5”, 18” Tikka Factory Sporter contour… rather than the 6 CM that I requested with the order yesterday.

I hope it’s not too late to change. Jake has always been super accommodating.

Looking forward to joining all of you in the .223 thread 🤘🏼

Since your running a suppressor you might consider asking them to bell the muzzle also so you can run 5/8x24 threads.
