Impact velocity with the 88’s? What didn’t you like about wound channel?

Can’t remember if I posted earlier in this thread but killed 2 doe on a depredation hunt this spring at 475 with the 80 eldm and they did good as well.

I ended up using the 77 tmk this season. Was hoping to use the 88’s but it didn’t work out. Anyway, I wasn’t disappointed with them that’s for sure. 4 deer, 150, 180, 206 and 625. Watched them all go down.

It’s not that I wasn’t happy, just that I havnt seen many, only shot one deer with the 88. Sub 200 yards, I’d have to look but fast.

The tmk is just violent at 3k. Upsets very fast.

Honestly both bullets have performed well. The 77 at fast velocity reminds me of a much bigger bullet however.

I agree with the violent upset of the tmk’s.

This was at about 2500 fps.

They seem to fragment more the eldm, but I only have 2 with the eldm to compare to, and not the 88’s. I do like the numbers of the 88 more.

Only difference I have really noticed with the tmk is that they upset immediately, versus the few eldm shot animals seem to take a little.

I’m a fan of them doing that on deer. When I started shooting 22 cal at deer I thought there was no way I’d be more impressed than say a 6.5 140 or 143. I’m well in the double digits now and havnt been let down yet. In fact I feel like more speed in the 22 creed has brought them up to almost too much damage on a deer.

I'm on page 10...
Do I want alpha or peterson brass?

I have a 1:7 barrel ordered and was going to do another 22br, but the other thread about magazines made me realize that won't feed in my LA fixed mag vanguard. So creedmoor it is.
The alpha ocd brass is holding up really well with my hot loads, so if you're trying to run em fast, might be worth it

I ordered Alpha large. I really just want to do what my 22BR does but with a cartridge that will feed in my LA magazine.

2900 with an 80eldm seems a-ok to me and will match up ballistically with our elk guns.

You won't be disappointed. I forgot to add that I also got LRP brass

Went out to 1040 yards about 30min before dark, it was still windy 10-12 with some mirage and I fired 2 shots to get on the 24x24” plate. Made adjustments and waited until right at dark and the wind had died down to 3-5mph from 3clock. Dialed 27moa UP and 4.5R and sent 3 down range. Not bad from an 8lb suppressed rifle in the standing position with a 2oz rear bag. This is from an 18” barrel running 80gr elds at 2950fps with 42.5gr of h-1000. It just hit 100 rounds so it has speed up some.

@Procision Arms just finished up my 22 Creed. Could not be happier. 20" 1:7 Proof Research and Trigger Tech trigger. MDT LSS XL Chassis. I put about 40 rounds through it yesterday and it a shooter. Not my first rifle by @Procision Arms . These guys are meticulous when it comes to sub tensions and QC.

77 tmk at 3k, on close range deer, too much! Will be sticking to the 223 when it gets back with the tmk for sub 350 deer hunts. Grape fruit sized entrance, obliterated the shoulder even though it was behind it. Bullet leftover was found in the offside hide. I didn’t need to cut the deer open to see the damage, could have stuck my phone in there the hole was so big.

Watching impact was nice. This deer ran 50 yards.

The below picture is with the shoulder still attached, just pulled off the hide, entrance side, Tmk upset fast!

A friends 16” 22Creed in the same color stockys carbon (21oz) with leupy vx3 3-18x44, seekins rings, and egw base. Running the same 80gr eldm load I use in my rifle until the 69gr TMKs arrive. When the um rings come in Il swap them over to get the scope lower for a better cheek wield.

Just getting into the 22CM. I’m looking forward to getting into loading it. I’m curious about Accurate 4350. I see a lot of people saying H4350 is a touch too fast. I know Accurate 4350 is a little slower. I typically yield about 100fps slower than H4350 in my 6.5CM. Very accurate though. I saw that XXL Reloading has data for Accurate 4350 and velocities seem really good with moderate pressures. Anyone tried it?

I saw some Hornady factory 22creed ammo at the local gun store yesterday. They had both the match and the hunter 80gr eldm and x. I didn’t think they were releasing it until later but glad to see it on the shelves already. Bought a box of the 80eldm to check velocity, says 3285fps on the box. Although il continue reloading for it.

My 20" 22 creed should be done in the next week or so. Tikka 22-250 rechambered. Out of the powders I have, what would everyone recommend for the 88's? Seems the mid burning powders are getting the best results. I have:

RL23 (only a few lbs left)
RL26
N560
N565
H4831SC
H4350 (too fast?)

Is it an 8 twist?

You have probably seen my thoughts on it in this thread but I ended up with h4831sc. I felt h4350 was a touch fast.

What did you go with for freebore?

Yes

I have. I have some H4831SC and would prefer to use a hogdon powder, but am pretty heavily stocked on N560 and N565 so I am definitely going to try them at least.

.120 freebore. I didn't research what I wanted a ton. Gunsmith just mentioned that was the one he had so I rolled with it. Seems to be about right
