Going back and forth between these two.

Trying to decide if the 65 will be enough for 5-7 day camping trips or would I need the 80.

And this is finding water and not hauling water. Only carrying 2-3 quarts.

Carrying normal gear (bag, pad, 1 person tent, stove, food) during the 3 seasons.

Will the 65 be jammed full?

Thanks.

I have a Terraframe 65, and it does fine for me for a week, easily, especially, when I’m not having to pack a 0 degree down bag and winter layers and a four-season tent. I’d think that the 80 might be more than you need?

I think your right.
Seems like the 65 is a very good middle ground for me.

Also depends on how big you are, your style of camping, expected temps, and if bringing anything other than camping gear. I personally can do it, but being a big guy who is often out in cooler/wetter wx, have a hard time fitting 7 days into a 65l pack, even though I dont think I am a "heavy packer". All other things being equal I also would prefer to have an easy packing job and not have a puzzle every morning trying to cram everything into a space where it **barely** fits.

a 6'6" bag, long pad, and size XL clothing, etc is bulkier than if everything is smaller
if temps are in the teens or 20's I need warmer (bulkier) stuff
bringing a tarp for the expected rain, in addition to a tent? Or are you a bivi and tarp only guy?
fishing gear/waders or any special other stuff takes room.
Going solo you cant split tent parts or any other group gear
7 days of food for a big dude takes up some space, even re-packaged.

If 90% of your trips will be 3-4 days but you want the flexibility for up to 7 max, then maybe the 65 is a better choice most of the time. If 5-7 is the norm, then I think I'd prefer the flexibility and ease of packing of the little bigger 80l.

God points on the size of the gear that is carried.
I’m a regular/short normally. 3 season tent with no tarp camping in the 3 season. No winter for now.

Most of the trips will be the 3-4 day variety.
On occasion longer.

And where I’ll be it would be a fly rod and a small box. No waders.
But if the need arises, I’d told them on the shelf.
