TA, for terminal performance reasons.

Might as well just shoot at 100 and not waste your time at goofy yardages.

The scheels by me has the TA in stock to where I would have to order the TC. So I’m going to try the TA to start with.

As far as ranges- if you plan on shots being farther and a standard 100 yard why would you want to have a zero closer to that?

Your POA and POI don't necessarily need to match at 100 yards but 100 yards is an optimal distance to set your site.

Said differently - you're using a ballistic calculator to come up with these super short zero distances, I'd instead do the same but with an elevation offset at 100 yards.

With a 300 yard zero it's long arch back to zero at 300 yards with a max of 4.3" high at 170 yards. Your 100 yard zero would be 3.5" high. A lot of room for error with this route. IMO.

I set my zero at 100 yards. You can have a dope card taped to scope, stock, or however your want to do it.
I take a screen shot of drops and set that as my lock screen on iphone or I use my Kestrel.

I’m trying to pick between these to rounds for a 7mm rem mag for all around hunting.

Federal terminal ascent 155
Or
Federal trophy copper 150

Which would you pick and why?

I’m leaning towards to trophy copper because I can zero at 26.5 yards for a 300 yard zero. That’s if the federal app is correct.

I’m shooting the ttsx out of my 7mm-08, and the terminal ascent from a 308. Great results with both. The only downside I see to the ttsx is that they don’t get much expansion when they slow down. The terminal Ascent’s seem to work well at all speeds?

I like the TA bullet choice here. I also agree with wind gypsy and others that you should zero at 100 yards, though whether you zero be “on” at 100 yards or you intentionally zero high is a matter of preference. For me, I zero dialable scopes at 100 yards. If I’m using a non-dialable scope and planning on open country hunting, then I may zero at 200 (or really 1 1/2” high at 100, confirm at 200).

The problem I have with a 300 yard zero is it’s over 3 inches high at 100 and over 4 inches high at 150. I don’t like that, and I’m more likely to get a shot at 100-150 than 300. As a result, I don’t zero for mpbr or longer distances. But that’s up to personal preference and use case.
