I've been scouring forums and getting ideas for a tent for our Alaska drop off hunt next fall. Originally we had a camp package booked for our hunt that was supposed to be this year, but things fell apart and we scheduled our hunt with a different transporter for next year and they do not have any camp rentals available. Right now we're scheduled to fly in August 6th, but have a request with the transporter to shift the dates towards the end of August if any groups cancel. We're pretty good with the rest of our camp, but picking the right tent for something like this is the top of our to-do list. The hunting we do here in Oregon we use my big wall tent or our single man tents if we're hunting mobile. But the idea of being in the Brooks Range and having a tent fail due to wind/rain/snow with no easy way out is worrisome.
I'm torn on going with one of the Seek Outside teepee styles tents, with fear of holding up in adverse weather. Looked into a few of the dome style tents that have been recommended on here as well. I don't necessarily plan on taking a stove, unless we end up buying one and we have extra the weight available. Another idea we're throwing around is doing a dome style tent for sleeping and a teepee style for hanging out, cooking/eating, etc. but only if the weight pans out. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
