As a sidenote, you didnt ask for this advice so it may be worth exactly what you paid for it.

.30-06 is a great cartridge and will do anything you could want. But I would suggest considering something lighter recoiling. There are ALOT of great cartridges that will do the job and be more pleasurable to shoot.

This is great advice.

This will be my 4th 30-06, the others didn’t have any memorable recoil.
It’s a mountain rifle, it’s going to sting a little in some positions after a box or so….

What would you suggest?

3- the guys who have to buy the latest and greatest whether it benefits them or not

this one is a double-edged sword, IMO there are far more of these than is healthy, on the other hand there are alot of companies/products that attract this type of person provide and the companies mean jobs.
