Tell me about modular truck caps....

I think lead time was 50ish days to delivery. If I recall that put it being delivered the week of Christmas. It's a little delayed from quoted time but whatever. I don't know exactly when it left China. I figured it would take longer on the boat and customs is always an unknown.

Based on the research I did the company I bought it from makes SmartCap (according to internet legend) and they were also well reviewed on Alibaba, if you believe those. I figured for the cost, I was willing to roll the dice and would just dispute the charge on my CC if they didn't follow through.

Who makes smart cap ? Be interested in checking out the Alibaba "version"

Well, my balls finally dropped enough that I went ahead and ordered the talon8 for my '99 dually. Went with the V2 model that k9k posted the pics of. I wanted the flight deck top rack, too, but it's not compatible with the V2. He guaranteed that I'd have it by April 1st. Which would be in time for me to install and stay in it for the April Montana Icebreaker shoot, so I went for it..... will update when I get it.

I’m fairly certain you’re gonna get it, the timeline is what I’m waiting to see. If this kid thinks his product is so good, he’d get a ton more business ordering some to keep in stock

I'm sure I'll get it. The timeline he gave would be nice, to just have it to start out for the first match of the year. But if it is late, it's really not a big deal. I don't have to peel my fiberglass shell off till it gets here anyway.....

Well, since I have time to kill waiting for the black shell I ordered, I went ahead and ordered a black rear bumper to match the cowcatcher on the front. And since I have black license plates now, I got black led taillights and gate light. Also put on a black diamond plate tailgate liner. Now the whole ass-end of big Whitey will be blacked out....

Will chip away at it, until the bumper and shell show up......

Ordered some stuff for the rear bumper, so I have it all here when the bumper comes in. New hitch, shackles, led backup lights, trailer plug, and license plate lights. While I was at it, I tossed a pair of amber fog lights in the order, to fill the empty holes on the front bumper. Installed them today. Cain't do much else, until either the bumper, or shell, gets here. And haven't heard a peep, concerning either/both...

He told me it would ship 1st week of Feb. No notification, so I texted him the other day to see if it was on the way. Two days later he texted back that it hadn't shipped and that his 'team' dropped the ball and run into problems as the truck was older. So I wasn't real nice with my reply, stating that I hated to be lied to, to make a sale, and that he was the one I was dealing with and not his 'team'. And since he is the 'head' of the team, it was all on him. It wasn't but a minute later he called in person, to apologize and say he's not a liar. My logic told him if it was untrue statement, it was in fact a 'lie'. And then he gave nothing but excuses on why it couldn't ship until 'maybe' the first week of March. Of course THAT didn't set well with me and I told him his excuses and lies were BS. Just cancel the damn order and refund my money, which he says he can't do. So I decided to just shut my mouth and let it play out. As much as I'd like to have it in time for the Icebreaker, I can dang sure get by with what I have just as I have for the last 20 years. The chips will fall where they may, but if it ain't right when it gets here, he's gonna be surprised by a visit to Texas from a pissed-off customer. One who is not afraid to make the drive, and get his payback in hide......

All of the research I’ve seen on him shows the same exact thing. Most people get their stuff, way later than promised and he won’t office refund or anything.

I think the guy promises high to get business and kicks the can working overtime to cover his ass.

If he’d just be upfront and say look, timeframe is usually this, it’s a while but the price reflects it and allow people to make the decision
