I have this old field point bag that still has a lot of life left, but the exterior is faded and needs a facelift.

Has anyone painted their targets before? Any tips or ideas on design and type of paint to use

I’ve never done that. Probable doable with the correct type of paint. Another option is to buy a new cover for it. Morrell sells replacement covers. Measure your target and see what they have that would match up to yours.

Sticking a chunk of whatever color duct tape you can see best and sized for the distance you’re shooting works well, too. Definitely not a permanent solution, but also way easier and quicker than trying to paint that bag.

Use a permanent marker. Keep it in your quiver for touch ups.

So this is what I decided to do:

1. Spray paint color for center circles. I had sea foam on hand. We'll see how well it works.

2. Cover with stickers and spray paint color for outer circles.

3. Trace outlines with sharpie. Did center circle outlines freehand. Used container lid for outer circles.

4. Touched up paint with sea foam and white paint pens. I ended up completely covering the center circles as the sea foam colors didn't match up correctly.

5. Use a couple sponge brushes and spray paint sprayer into a container to hand paint the black outlines\backgrounds.

6. Touch up with sharpies and paint pens as needed.

Pretty happy with how it came out. Next time, I'll probably just use a paint pen to fill in the center dots after doing the white circles instead of doing it with spray paint beforehand.

Just make sure you hang the bag. It will last 4-5x longer.

I use pins to put paper targets on bags a lot, just depends on what you are practicing for.
