Taping the muzzle OK, and special considerations for primer pocket in rain?

I assume taping the muzzle on the muzzleloader is OK as it is with a rifle yeah? Big big hunt coming up this weekend and we've got 28-35 mph winds with rain all day Saturday and Sunday. My ML was sighted in with a brake on it and I won't be able to shoot to redo it without the brake so a balloon/finger condom won't really fit.

I'll do my best to keep everything dry but also wanted to ask about any tricks from those experienced with these things for keeping the primer and primer pocket dry and moisture and humidity out both while hunting and assuming I don't fire. My ML shot best with White Hot pellets from the powders I tried so that's what I plan to use. I didn't save any spent primers but I can make a spent primer easy enough to switch out at the end of the day if I don't fire.

This is a break action with 209 primer if it matters (CVA Accura MR-X).

Good to go with tape! I have never had issues with moisture even after hunting in the rain and storing for a couple days while on a hunt. If for some reason you are uncertain, can always unload or discharge and start fresh

Yes, tape is fine. I tape my muzzle or brake on all my muzzys. No issue.

As for keeping moisture out of the breech, if you keep a 209 in it (live or fired) it should be good to go within reason.

You zeroed with a brake and now you’re going to hunt without it? No change in POI?

Thanks yall, I figured it was OK but I'm brand new to these gizmos. I will say I did really enjoy shooting it but I didn't enjoy cleaning after every shot lol. I'm gonna try to pickup some BH over the summer so I'll have it on hand for future use.

No, I was saying now I can't hunt without it because I don't know if and how much the POI would change so I'm stuck with it. If I would have zero'd without the brake I could just put a finger condom on the muzzle.
