Ohh yeah I've done both.
Suppose I could sand a washer for an exact fit.
But I prefer a hard zero stop so I can just check it by feel. Vs how I have washers now just let me know I'm on the correct revolution. But you have to look to make sure its on zero.

Ok, we could add a zero stop to the wishlist for improvements then ... would be interesting to see what effect that would have on weight.

Alright, I'm feeling good now! Called in and got my 3-9's ordered. They said that my backorders kept getting declined by my CC company for some reason. It also turned out that I had 5 scopes on backorder, not just 4. I was surprised to hear that. Anyways, I'm all squared away now!

The really nice sales lady told me that it's been exciting for them because they've been getting non-stop calls today for orders. Way to go, roksliders!

Oooooorrrr ... not, seeing as we know they're coming out with some updated models.

But will that include the 3-9 or not? And will the updates actually be improvements? (Seeing as, frankly, they're not on many other scope designs ostensibly for hunting - add weight where we don't need it, remove weight in ways that reduce reliability, and so on ...).

You bets your money, and you takes your chances!

Ah, just messin' with ya, fellow 'Sliders! My take is this: even with good updates (my main one would be for improved glass), the old ones will keep on working just fine. And, unless SWFA keeps the price down (hard in this geopoliitical environment), the old ones will likely still have a solid resale-ability. And, if not, we can move them down the "hierarchy of rifles" - you know, put the old model on that sometimes-gun that still shamefully has a Leupold on it.

Or give them to a friend just getting into it. Or a kid.

Or keep one in the range bag for when your buddy's [insert many other scope brands here, especially if it starts with A, L, S, or V] goes down.

Or just keep them for backups, because, supply chain issues, Wolverines, and two is one and one is none type reasons.

As for me, I would have picked up a couple for spares, except that I just blew my wallet wad on not one, but TWO Minox ZP5s with the THLR reticle!

Actually, between a ZP5 THLR for long range, and an SWFA 3-9 for short, we've got our bases covered.

You bring up a good point! If they roll out a 3-9 with a sweet zero stop on it, here in the next 6 months, I might feel a little foolish buying so many now. However, if the upgraded models come with a significant increase in price, then I'll probably be content with what I have.

I ordered one too. I already have a zero stop set that’s been in my junk box for ~ 2 years and I have a few sets of sportsmatch rings on deck.

I concur with this. I'm sure an increase in design/features means either increase in price or needing to prove itself quality-wise first. Seeing how much backing the current 3-9 models have, I'd say it's a solid bet for the time being. I think we all agree that zero stop, lower profile turrets, etc. would be great improvements as long as the internals don't change! I'd say, order while they are available. Supply chain things are perplexing and likely not to suddenly get better in the next year or so.

Now to find some sportsmatch rings in stock somewhere.......

I'm not a zit picker on weight.
Long as its reliable and fairly priced im ok.
It i was really nit picky id like the cross hair a little bigger. There pretty small on 3x

Next closest scope is the Sfh F1 imo at are $1050

If they had a decently ranged scope. 3-9, 4-10 or 12ish
Ffp
Zero stop
Anywhere in the mid 20 oz
And $900
Thats what I'm looking for.

Alot more of my complaint is not weight as much as bulk.
Some rifles I just don't want the bulk of a big 50mm bell.

I placed a second order today for a 3-9, then decided I didn't need two, so I called to cancel and learned the first was getting declined because they weren't using my middle initial.

My main purpose was to stock up and sell to the desperate in 6 months then swim in cash.

Fortunately my wife doesn't give me any grief over any of my purchase. I could see trying to explain the SWFA scopes as an investment

Hopefully the quality of the current batch is the same. With how other items and customer service has been the last 2 years it's hard to say if these are the exact same or if there were any material/part changes that may have an impact on quality. If you drop test one of the new ones post the results!

I called them to ask at around ~ 230pm their time and they had them in stock. My card got charged and I got a confirmation email. I was having trouble with the website, it was saying back ordered, saying they couldn’t send it to my address and shit like that so I just called. The lady was cool and it was a quick transaction.
