While I agree with some sentiments here, it’s not the length of SWFA turrets that cause ejection issues at times- it’s the shape of the turret and the knurling. The capped and smooth covers allow the cases to slide/skip down it.
Hey, just curious if you have gotten hands on with these scopes, or whatever else they are releasing in the HD line?
Also, I really appreciate all the great info you put out on this site. Thanks for doing that!

The 3-15 is probably a nice scope. Hopefully the durability has been retained. They don’t label it as HD but they do state it has fully multicoated lenses. If its a good as the newer 6x, it is more than adequate. The turrets are quite long, and not exactly aesthetically pleasing, but the ability to configure them is smart. I do wonder what design considerations led them to be so long? At this price what else compares? I see a lot to like. Nice light weight at 21.1oz too.

Regarding the tall turrets:

I don't think there's much SWFA or the OEM could do to make them shorter with the 5 mil/rev design that translates, and still retain 40 mils of total travel.

They would have needed to reduce total travel to use the existing design. Or, redesigned the turret.

My guess is that in order to keep costs low, and continue production in Japan, the decision was made to modify the existing design without major changes.

I am a bit surprised that they continue to offer 12x, 16x, and 20x models as I didn't think they sold that many.

I don’t see any external indicators or mention of how the zero stop works.
Suppose it’s a package of rubber washers?

Zero stop looks ver similar to my Athlons.
I’ve been very pleased with them.
Definitely a big improvement.

I don't need another fixed 10x so this release isn't very exciting to me but I see some positives with Gen2:

1) The larger font is appreciated for aging eyes - big deal for some!

2) Zero stop - no downside to me, as long as it functions properly

3) Splined turret knobs, instead of the grub screws - as long as the markings align correctly

Myself and probably many others have gen 1 scopes where the grub screws have mangled the brass shaft in many areas from changing zero or moving the scope to different rifles repeatedly.

The splined connection fixes that but I am curious if the markings will line up correctly especially with a bit of backlash in the mechanism.

Guess that 6x I planned to pull off for a maven on my 223 still holds its place.

Guys on here:
"I NEED a ~20oz variable with a mil reticle, tested design, capped turrets, zero stop, oh and not a tree reticle. Would sell like crazy and whoever did that would have the market!".

Same guys on here:
"Ewe it is ugly, what a shit show, total fail!".
Assuming that their three best sellers are the 3-9, 6x, and 3-15, why not focus production efforts there? While they updated the 3-15, the reticle looks like the same one they had in the 3-15 before. Seems like an attempt to show they are still alive without putting much into it.

You’re not wrong - it checks a lot of boxes. And if the 3-15 went on a diet that would be an improvement.

While I assume production is still in Japan, I honestly can’t find mention of it anywhere

Exactly what I was thinking.

I do think it’s a bit ugly, but there is a lot you could do very well with this scope. And off the top of my head it’s quite a bit less expensive than anything really comparable.

They put the 3-15 on a little bit of a diet. The manual shows 21oz. Think the gen1 was 24oz
It is interesting that they didn’t include the weight upfront on in the description or specifications. Why make someone dive into the manual to find that? I probably wouldn’t have opened the manual if you hadn’t pointed that out.
