SWFA warranty service 2025

What should I expect from SWFA in terms of warranty for my 6x42? It’s broken, and I need to send it in. I’ve read things about people waiting for years for warranty replacements, since it kind of sounds like they don’t repair them.

If anyone has had dealings with them lately, how has it been? Do I need to buy a new scope if I want to use my rifle at all for the rest of 2025?

Folks that needed replacements before and there was no stock needed to wait that long time, they eventually replaced them though everyone reported and/or a store credit. No one knows when they'll have more 6x42, you could ask them for a deal on a 3-9x42 if that is an acceptable alternative to you. Otherwise yeah you should probably get something else while waiting since they don't have inventory of the 6x42 currently.

Thanks. Now I need to think of what could be an acceptable temporary replacement for an SWFA 6x in that price range. Not sure it exists.

Years ago I had a 6x take a dump (covid era production). The 6x's were out of stock. They gave me credit and a discounted price on a 3-9.

I warrantied a scope last year and they handled it by issuing store credit.

Call them and ask turn around time. If it is to long go with the 10X model. Then buy from a company that will stand behind their warranty. I have 6 SWFA’s and treat them as loaners and emergency backups.

File immediately and expect to wait until the next batch is ready or take store credit.

Out of curiosity, what went wrong?

I think it’s been slowly dying the last year but…

I started to see a wandering zero on my windage. +\- about a half mil.
I was at the range yesterday and noticed it worse, about 30 rounds in I started having to adjust parallax after every shot. The target would completely go out of focus.
As I was packing up I noticed my reticle cants left and right as you zoom in and out.

Any idea what is causing that?

I sent in the scope. They emailed me the day it arrived and said it would need to be replaced and I could either get on the waiting list for a 6x or get an immediate replacement with another fixed power scope. I ended up replacing it with a 10x. The process was very fast and communication was good, although it obviously would’ve been a lot slower had I waited on another 6x.

Nope. This specific scope has lived a pretty cushy life. Spent most of its time on a coyote gun that doesn’t get shot a ton. It’s seen maybe 1k rounds of .223 bolt gun, 200 rounds of 6.5 CM bolt gun, and 600 rounds of 6.5 G gas gun.

Something on the inside probably came unglued. Stuff can fall on SWFA, no one has ever said otherwise, its always a statistical question of how often (versus other options).

Most definitely. I’m not mad or hating on it. I am glad I pulled it off my 6.5 CM deer rifle this year. Had it failed a month before season I would have been a bit more stressed. I do think it was going out last fall and may be why I ended up with a poor shot on a deer.
