You can just remove the Oring on the 3-9s. No affect on function. Is there a way to correct the mushyness with a oring change or something? Feel like i recall reading that at some point.

Anecdotal, but I did notice a stark contrast when dialing in the warmth indoors. A lot less mushy... I could see the grease being pretty dense and mushy in the below freezing weather, and more fluid / thin when warm.
Reference my post above. Could solve yours as well as many others’ issues
Or, we could all post 20 more times and not actually try to solve the problem at hand

Or replacing the Oring with a thinner oneYou can just remove the Oring on the 3-9s. No affect on function.

Use a heat gunCertainly worth trying, will have to get creative on how though as its -10 here at the moment.
By the way--the turret position indicators on the 3-9 (maybe others too) are just poorly glued sleeves. My windage indicator spun basically freely right out of the box. You can reposition them pretty quick I bet by regluing. May need heat to loosen if they are actually tightResurrecting this thread... took my first SWFA out today and BOY is it mushy... windage being way worse than elevation, but I don't plan on dialing wind.
I also went to re-set the turrets to zero after sighting in, and the elevation turret refuses to line up with the hash mark on the scope. Each click places the mark on the scope somewhere between the marks on the turret. The windage lined up.
I suppose in the field I can try to remember that it's "on" whatever mark that it's slightly in front of... I'll take zero retention over perfect alignment, but still irritating.

I think this is wayyyy overblown.
It's not the grease, it's the o ring. I went down this path. Silicone lube the o ring, or remove it. Find a thinner one if you are a maniac. Just remove it and try it if you don't believe me.
The maven thread is full of guys saying the turret spins too easy. The solution (personally verified) is a fatter o ring - more friction to the turret. The fatter o ring takes the turret from easy spin and loud clicks to swfa 3-9 turrets. And people are doing that on purpose.
So remove the o ring and try it, put a dab of silicone based lube on it, or just use it. I've never heard of someone missing an animal because of turret clicks.

The gen 2 turrets are night and day different. Way betterI bought two gen2 3-15 and have a 6x I bought used. I thought they changed something on the gen2 because the clicks were so much more positive. I still love my 6x.
