SWFA Black Friday

Too late! I already ordered the 10x. Guess I’ll find out! I don’t think a fixed 10 would have been detrimental for any of the 5 animals I shot this season. I’ll have to see where I’m at after next season!
For a dedicated western hunting scope it's not too much, I promise you. Ive killed an Antelope at 200, a cow elk at 286, and a mule deer at 648 so far. All animals have been found in the scope immediately when trying. I have yet to get a shot at an animal under 200 yards in Wyoming in 5 years of hunting. Most shot opportunities for me are between 200 and 500.

I know there are pictures somehwere on this forum where @Formidilosus posted the view between 6x and 10x on some goats at 100 yards.

What is everyone’s experience with the fixed 10x, as a primary western hunting scope? With the sale this weekend, I’m very tempted to pick one up, as I am fed up with my current Vortex, and I love the idea of a fixed power (and the price!!). Will it make it difficult to spot impacts, track game, quick target acquisition, etc.? I can conjecture all kinds of things, and try random simulations with my current scope set on 10 power, but none of that really is the same as true life experience. I know the 6X gets recommended an awful lot, but I’m tired of waiting on them to ever come back in stock…

Facing into a low sun it's damned full of bled light, making it very hard to see both target and reticle. Despite that, I've taken 4 deer over the last few years with it.

I prefer my 6X versions and also like the 3x9. But it's still a very capable scope.

Welp, I ordered the 3-9. My first SWFA, and also first FFP and Mil scope. I’ve always been a MOA guy. Am I gonna be converting everything to Mil now? lol
I ordered one as well, I’m finally starting to get the concept of how useful Milquad scopes are in terms of using it as a rudimentary ranging device, and for quickly holding for wind when dialing… I don’t think I’ll convert everything over but I might….
