What is everyone’s experience with the fixed 10x, as a primary western hunting scope? With the sale this weekend, I’m very tempted to pick one up, as I am fed up with my current Vortex, and I love the idea of a fixed power (and the price!!). Will it make it difficult to spot impacts, track game, quick target acquisition, etc.? I can conjecture all kinds of things, and try random simulations with my current scope set on 10 power, but none of that really is the same as true life experience. I know the 6X gets recommended an awful lot, but I’m tired of waiting on them to ever come back in stock…
I didn't "need" the one I bought, but the idea of a "RS 95" complete with SWFA 3-9x HD and Scope Bumpers was just too strong to resist. If I make it through the weekend without buying another one of these, it will be a testament to my self control.
I have a couple scopes with illuminated reticles and I have never actually turned them on.Does anyone regret losing an illuminated reticle for hunting?
I ordered one as well, I’m finally starting to get the concept of how useful Milquad scopes are in terms of using it as a rudimentary ranging device, and for quickly holding for wind when dialing… I don’t think I’ll convert everything over but I might….Welp, I ordered the 3-9. My first SWFA, and also first FFP and Mil scope. I’ve always been a MOA guy. Am I gonna be converting everything to Mil now? lol
I don't even know when you would use an illuminated reticle for hunting.Does anyone regret losing an illuminated reticle for hunting?
A little.I have a couple scopes with illuminated reticles and I have never actually turned them on.
Don’t sweat the throw lever.Where is everyone getting 3-9 throw levers? Looks like SWFA is sold out of them.
I put a giant/large sized cable tie on mine as a test and it has worked well, it gives just enough of a bump and has stayed on well. Been on for years and a ton of use.Don’t sweat the throw lever.
It’s one of those things we think we need, but on the 3-9 we really don’t.
Either get a rubber ranger band and put it over the mag wheel to increase the diameter and your grip.
Or just leave it on 6x or 8x and practice just not fiddling with it.
Like an actual zip tie? Im going to try this now.I put a giant/large sized cable tie on mine as a test and it has worked well, it gives just enough of a bump and has stayed on well. Been on for years and a ton of use.
I have not made a shot with an illuminated reticle. However having it was very comforting when I had 3 deer on the ground at dark and had a brown bear pass within 45 yards of me. I was 1/8-1/4 mile from the deer getting water.Does anyone regret losing an illuminated reticle for hunting?

Thanks for the link. Those are something I never knew existed, but now I can't live without. Amazon order on the way!
