SWFA Black Friday

The "matching" concept was refuted somewhere recently (this thread or another, don't remember now), it's more about your OCD :).
It was stated (and I agree) that using mils in the reticle is using mils in the reticle, and scope model doesn't change a thing in the process.

My hunter is a Maven RS1.2. Love it, but hate the weight/balance point (Tikka on RS). I went 3-9 for the trainer at midnight. Can always resell here if you don't like it. Def get your point about having the extra magnification for identification, but that also implies you'll be hunting with it.

Good to know about the matching… if you come across that thread, please post it up. I’ll also search for it and post it if I find it

Is anyone gonna use the free Kenton turrets? Not sure if I should use them, or sell my coupons at a good rate and dial like everyone else

Gotcha, didn’t know if there was a tangible benefit to have exact same scope on trainer vs hunting. Or if it was just have mil scopes (like a SWFA on one, maven on another)

Kinda wanna get one of those even though I already ordered two 3-9s. Would be a good temporary optic, and then an excellent backup scope
You know I've been so m happy with mine is just have no interest in trying anything else. Maybe a 3x9 down the road, but for now I'll be perfectly happy being a 10x guy.

If you have a favorite load you plan to use long term to justify a custom yardage turret: Get the version that has the mil marks on it still along the bottom and the yardage above it. Then you can still easily dial for other loads or conditions that vary enough off your normal conditions.

Any issue with these staying on during field use?
None. In fact, it fit snug enough that I eventually cut a small slit in the end of the cap which allowed me to fit it further onto the scope and I just wrapped some electrical tape around it. Never moves.

For those that use the 3-9 and 3-15 back to back, do you notice much difference outside the zoom and parallax?

Originally was going to get two 3-15 (one for 223 trainer while other goes on hunting 6.5) but now thinking 3-9 on the trainer. Currently trainer has 10x SWFA and hunting has RS1.2. Most shooting is done between 6-10x but zoom into 15x to field judge an animal is useful for me

Outside of what you mentioned, the eyepiece is much easier to focus on the 3-15 or the fixies. To my eyes the edges of the image are clearer on the 3-9 than on the fixed scopes or the 3-15. The size and weight.

Either will work as good as the other. They just have different feature sets. I value the smaller size and weight of the 3-9 for a hunting rifle more than I value having parallax, more zoom, and an easier to focus eyepiece. Once the weight weenie demons get ahold of you they are hard to rid yourself of.

Do you have a picture of one of these weight weenie demons?
