I have a Tikka T3x in 6.5crd, I have the sportsman 30mm mid height scope rings in the mail, and I just talked to SWFA and feel like it will be a *long* time before their 3-9x scope comes back in stock. The same story for the fixed power 6x, though that could be March or April so at least not forever.

What are my alternatives? Should I just wait for the 6x? I’d like to use this rifle for hunting- mostly whitetails but also pronghorn, elk, etc.

Thanks for any help

There's a 3-15 in the classifieds right now. Try that out while you're waitng for the 3-9 or 6 to come back in stock.

I wanted the 6x too, but I was only able to find a 10x. I'm liking it, but I'll probably still buy a 6x when they're available again.

Thanks! Yeah that seems like a good plan. It looks like I am too new here to message the guy who is selling it, otherwise I’d buy it. Hopefully it’ll be available once I’m able to :)

Post a want to buy ad in the classifieds that says what you want, what condition you want it in, how and how much you are paying. You'll have one before 2022.
Thanks! I went over to the classifieds and it looks like I haven’t been here long enough to post. I’ll do that once I have been though. Thanks for the advice.

Typo.

I’d get… due warranty

Bought exact scope off eBay, a lot used but still less then retail. Sooo glad I did. Love the scope.

I have a 10x milquad on a rifle I'm planning to sell. I'd split it up and sell the scope separately if you decide you can make due with the 10x.

how would you not know when a scope you manufacture is gonna be available.

SWFA does not manufacture scopes. They are just a store. They buy them from a manufacturer who builds them to SWFA specs. As batshit crazy as people here in the USA have gotten with this covid BS, it’s nothing g compared to how crazy and how wound up people have gotten in Asia where the scopes are made. Add to the fact that there are fewer cargo ships and less dock workers, it makes it hard to give a good timeline.

Edit to add: for people who are just now getting interested in SWFA scopes, this shortage has been going on since their Black Friday sale like 2-3 years ago. They had trouble filling orders from that sale when Covid just started and they have not really caught up yet.

They are facing the same supply issues we are seeing with all overseas goods. My companies headquarters are in Japan same as where SWFAs are made. I’ll give you an example of our current backlog just for one of our lower cost laser receivers…

We currently have 670 orders to fulfill and we are getting 70-90 units per month average since January 2021. We are switching to a new diode that is supposed to get us up to 200 units arriving per month in May. With current orders coming in and as the season ramps in early spring we still will take over a year to catch up on backlog IF they can get that production number up.

Fun times.

Find a Trijicon Credo or Zeiss V4 in the style you like. There's nothing magical about SWFA.

No there not. They are just made to a standard. The Trijicons that I’ve seen have been decent, not bombproof but decent, yet of the dozen or so V4’s I’ve seen and used every one of them lost zero consistently from side impacts.
