Before I owned a 3-9x, I thought it had the same long turrets as the caps for the gen2 fixed powers. Now that I own one, I honestly don’t see the point in shorter turrets for the 3-9x.

I'm shooting a 3-9 right now. I just put a postage sized piece of tape on the windage knob after I get a zero.

I have a gen2 10x I'm working with right and I have the knobby turret on the El and the giant cap on the windage, and I just got over it...don't even notice it. It's funny what you get over.

I’ll take function over form anytime. And I have gotten used to how they look. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have multiple 10x and 3-9s but my 3-15 are the only scopes that's given me issues with ejected rounds hitting the turret and ending up back in the chamber.

I use these now wrapped in electric tape.

I am 100% sure position plays a role. But what does that matter?
To change position I would need to change my LOP
Im just here for the short cap (if it ever gets produced) because I'd prefer to do that than to change LOP

Edit to add: it is completely possible that always running the bolt quickly can address this too. It is not an epidemic for me, but a repeated nuisance. Pics of rifles here for the disbelievers

This is the one time being a lefty and having a scope without a parallax turret makes life easier. Gotta take the small wins!
I could flip my scope 90° and just deal with the eccentric crosshairs I guess!

But I digress--still curious on progress on this.
I just ordered a Kenton turret to trim back on a lathe at next opportunity (weeks or months)

I had purty much the same issue with a Gen 1 3-15 and solved it with a similar setup; table leg cap with electric tape around it to seal it up. Pretty cheap and bomber solution.

It’s really funny to me. I remounted my 6x on my Tikka and I thought I put it “in the same/right place.” Yesterday evening, testing loads off the bench, every single piece of brass was deflecting off the windage knob… I still like the scope, but I think I need to move it forward a notch and pull the rear focus out a bit.
