I went and shot my suppressor for the first time yesterday. My first shot on a cold suppressor kept impacting low.

Is this normal?

Low compared to your zero without the suppressor on? Or your cold bore shot was lower than the rest of your group with the suppressor?

I zeroed my rifle with the suppressor. My kids shot their 22’s for a while, and then I shot my rifle again. My first shot ended up about an inch low then my next shots grouped on the bullseye. This played out twice all together.

Strange. My only guess is that it came loose, and unscrewed a bit. But ime they won’t group when the suppressor is loose.

What scope is on the rifle?

Not normal for anything I've experienced with my rifles. Are you taking the suppressor on or off of the rifle between groups. Not that I see an issue, but I could imagine the first shot being off if something was moving and "seating" during the first shot or something after putting it back on.

Maybe its because you are expecting to flinch on your first shot, then you shoot the others after you relax and are vibing on the hushed sound of freedom?

I am thinking things may have just come loose. I checked tonight and my suppressor was not tight. I will tighten it down and do some more shooting. Thanks for all the responses.

It happens. Build it into your shooting checklist to always put a hand on the suppressor to confirm its tight (when cold of course.) You don't want to let it get so loose that you get a baffle strike.

My POI was 4” different between no suppressor and suppressor. Since I got it it’s been that way. I always shoot with it on now and have awesome consistent groups. Couple times I’ve taken it off it’s way off at 100

On my rifles there is significant vertical POI shift with the suppressor on rifle. If the suppressor is loose the POA will shift a bit.

Some POI is expected from using a muzzle brake/suppressor attachment only, then installing the suppressor.

I'd say 1" POI shift is not that bad at all if it's consistent. 4" POI shift tells me to leave the rifle as you intend to shoot with it. Either leave the suppressor on, or leave it off.

I get get a POI shift depending on weather I’m using one of those silencer covers or not. Not a big deal.

I’d like to make an intelligent comment, but I’m at 10 months and still waiting on mine.

Afraid now that IF it comes in, that I’ll be spending too much time getting it “shot in” for holds

Good luck. Great feeling to be playing with new gear.

If this is happening (poi shift from suppressor on zero first shot) it is an issue with the suppressor, the barrel, or a combination.

I can take my suppressor off my rifle and put it on every time and not have any shift, I purposely test this when learning the barrel. If anything is wrong by the time the barrel speeds up, it’s gone. Ammo is too expensive to be shooting crappy barrels.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I have chased my ass and spent a lot of time and money trying to fix issues that would have saved me had I just threw the thing in the scrap metal pile.

Agree, it here shouldn’t be any change from taking the silencer off then putting it on again. I’ve never actually seen that happen. Both my TBAC 7 and my banish 30 have no change in POInafter being removed and re installed.

I agree with prior posts on (if it's actually real) it being an issue with something in the system. This past range visit with my father his suppressor cover for his TBAC U9 Gen 2 hadn't come in so we had only one suppresser cover between us since I had my TBAC U9 Gen 1 with its cover on my rifle. That meant I had to unscrew my suppressor and take the cover off to give to him each time he was going to shoot. Between both of our rifles/suppressors there was no POI shift at all while repeatedly taking our suppressors on/off. That's the beauty of suppressors made for precision shooting.

If the first shot with the suppressor lands in a different spot than the subsequent shots, which is what I think you are describing, then my opinion is that is probably this:
Maybe its because you are expecting to flinch on your first shot, then you shoot the others after you relax and are vibing on the hushed sound of freedom?
