I'm looking at getting new tires for my F350. Does anyone have experience with Sumitomo Encounter AT tires? They seem to get pretty good reviews on-line, but I don’t have any direct experience with them or know anyone with them. From what I understand, Sumitomo owns Falken. The Encounter AT's look similar to the Wildpeak AT4W, however, they are quite a bit cheaper.

In the past, I have had Cooper AT3, Copper STMaxx, BFG KO2, General Grabber, Yokohama Geolanders, etc., so I have experience with several different tires. So, I'm primarily interested in hearing about the Sumitomo's.

Thanks!

I got some Sumitomo ice edge winter tires last year on my Toyota highlander in Western colorado. They have been great. Good value and great performance from them. Hope this helps.

I haven’t had any experience with sumitomo specifically, but I’ve had two of their Falken models: The AT3W and the Rubitrek. Both have performed well.

If you want a cheaper AT4W, see if you can find a set of Rubitreks. Also check multiple different tire sizes- sometimes switching to a different size can be more economical even if the actual measurements of the tire are similar. I use tiresize.com to compare prices and sizes quickly.

Sorry it’s not direct experience with sumitomo, hopefully this helps ya out.
