Suggestions for cheaper "loaner" rifle?

Glenfield Model A is basically a Gen 1 Ruger American.

1/9 243 will spin some good bullets.

Stocks are cheap if you wanted to cut one down.

They have very fine threads, which can be easily damaged, but can be removed and replaced. Talking about barrel replacement on a loaner rifle in 6.5 CM seems a bit silly to me. The synthetic stock would probably wear out before the barrel.

My mistake, it was the Sauer 101 that had the press fit barrels not the 100

Savage Axis 2(not II) is one to look at, the 2 has a more ergo stock, available in compact or full size. Savages are known to shoot. available under $500

New 110s all have adjustable stocks, a bit on the heavy side which might be in your favor for recoil. I dont think they are on shevles yet, but they should be soon, midway lists them. LOTS of chamberings. starting around $700

I would go with an inexpensive gas gun for that purpose. In my experience its been ridiculously easy to get a 9-10lb gas gun to shoot reasonably accurately and very easy for a beginner to shoot them.
