Stuff overheard at the range or local gun shop

Interesting. Maybe the counter guy was thinking "Geese" instead of "Grouse." 😁
Ironic he didn't know that he could have used one of the AR 15's at his store on forest grouse in Idaho.
I think this is the most likely thing. Him and the warden misunderstood what the other was talking about.

Asked for slugs at the ā€œlocalā€ SW, was told the Brenneke’s were by far the cheapest. Hahaha.

By the way they moved all the ammo behind the counter due to shoplifting.

Same thing I thought right away but we talked about grouse specifically and he said he had never hunted ducks or geese. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but the incidence of people preaching but are actually talking out of their a$$ behind a gun counter is impressive.

Buying a tikka last week, roughtech ember in stainless, 6.5prc...
Gun didn't have the muzzle break on it, I asked if it was in the box or what? Was told tikkas don't have threaded barrels or brakes, there was 2 other tikkas right in line with the 1 I picked that had installed brakes.
6.5prc isn't enough gun for anything in this state, maybe for coyotes or close range for white tails if I pick my shots.
Tried pushing a ruger american, much better gun all around.

I'm headed to the same place to pick up suppressor in the coming weeks, cant wait to see what that turns up. Old guy tried to help with my fingerprints on a kiosk, took longer to do 1 finger (the last finger) then all the others. Told him I picked the jolene s suppressor, but was informed that was a bad choice as it isn't full auto rated and id shoot it apart in less then 100 rounds.

Must just be yours. I was in a sportsman's today and the ammo was out.

A couple years ago I was shooting my muzzy out to 150 yards. Heard an old timer behind me, telling his buddy that people weren’t supposed to shoot muzzys that far. I told him that I agreed but I had a very sought after bull tag that opened in a few days and I wanted to be as prepared as possible. Then he asked me about the tag and complained he hadn’t been drawn for that in the 20+ yrs he had been applying.

Buddy of mine just texted me this one! He's out at the range getting some load development done with the new Ruger American (6.5 creed) he got his daughter and there's a Fudd in brown fatigues (not an LEO...just LAPRing) with a kid following him around hanging on his every word.

Old man: "He's shooting a 300 mag! I can tell cuz the barrel is twisted!!" (it's just factory fluting).

My buddy: "It looks like that cuz they press the rifling in from the outside to form it."

Fudd: "I've heard about that!!"

Overheard a young gun counter salesman awhile back trying to sell a guy on a 9mm as the ultimate shtf cartridge and one of his big selling points is if you ever wanted to you could break down the 9mm round and use the gunpowder from it in any rifle cartridge its basically perfect for anything 🤣

Nature heals itself with time...that level of stupidity is fairly self-correcting, thanks be to Darwin.

Was leaving the range today, and the guy who had been chatting a little and eyeballing my rifle asked what caliber it was.

6.5cm

"What do you hunt with?"

"This"

"6.5 is big enough to kill deer?"
Nope every one knows it’s only good for punching paper… not enough whallllllop!
