When I took the oem pad off -the carbon shell only covered the top and bottom 1/4 of the butt pad and there was a void in the foam so I filled the gap with expanding foam shaped it flush then covered the whole butt with jb quik weld, I filled the oem screw holes until it spurted out. I’ll sand this flat then when I’m done with paint and attach the air tech for good I might glue it on as well as screws.

FWIW, a little 3M 5200 will make sure that the pad will never come loose. Have used it for years rigging boats and in a ton of other applications, and have found it to be a wholy amazing sealant/adhesive. Amazing the smooth surfaces it'll fully bond to.

My assumption is that bottom metal inlet and barrel channel inlets are independent of each other. But maybe thats not a safe assumption?

Ctr bottom typically has ctr barrel even though some people find ctr bottoms and mags on lite barrels

I started painting my VG Hunter today. I taped it off and lightly sanded the grip and fore end and then added three coats of spray on Herculiner bed liner for texture. Next part will be a light sanding of the rest of the stock with 600 grit wet-dry paper, an alcohol wipe down, and then using a natural sponge to add a bit of tan and green camo over the carbon fiber. Then I’ll hit it with a clear coat over the top to seal it. I’ll post more pics as I get more done.

Shorten the trigger reach, negative comb. Most of the other stuff can be done by the buyer or any decent smith.

Is there going to be a thumb shelf cut out like on manners LRH/PRS stocks? I know McMillan has that on some of the game warden/hunter stocks as well.

Hopefully this will eliminate my thoughts of making my own, I do NOT need another project, and there's an excellent chance I'll like this one.

Done but needs to cure. I added thee coats of matte clear coat after two-tone sponge painting. The black you see is bare carbon fiber. The Herculiner added some nice texture where it was needed. It gained 1 oz with the paint job. Still 5 oz lighter than what I took off with way better ergonomics. I’m happy.

Finally got around to mounting my stock today. Everything fit great and dropped right in I couldn’t be happier with the fit. Unfortunately when torqued to 55 in/lbs my rear action screw pulled through the factory bottom metal. Is the mountain tactical the best replacement bottom metal? Should I try and find another factory and hope it doesn’t happen again? Anybody have any other solutions?
