I'm guessing astetics and protecting the wood..Whats your goal?
If it’s just an aesthetic thing, I would imagine you could do a Hydro dip or a wrap or simply rough it up with some 150 grit and paint it. A wrap is going to trap moisture against the wood so I dont think it will actually protect anything—I would make sure the inlet and barrel channel are well sealed before you did that. If it’s just the gloss you don’t like but the wood is OK, you or a gunsmith could strip the old finish off and put a nice new finish on it that wouldn’t be so glossy. It’s probably an epoxy finish which requires a fairly aggressive stripping agent, but it’s certainly doable.Really want to kill the gloss and wood look. Since I don’t have anyone to pass it along to, I’m not really interested in being able to take it back to original.
