Does anyone know of any direct mount tikka rings that are steel? The only ones I know of are the warne maximas, but they're vertical split and I'm just not a fan of vertical split rings. I've always been a big fan of direct mount rings, but can never completely get out of my own head when using aluminum rings. I just prefer the ease of mind of using steel rings. I also wouldn't be completely opposed to the maximas if that happens to be the only steel option, so I would love to hear any experience with the maximas.

I should add, that for anyone adding input on the maximas, this will be a set and forget rig. I have zero intentions on dialing at all, so tracking isn't a huge issue to me. I just want something that will hold zero reliably.

If you don’t find a steel mount that you are happy with check out our on-piece direct mount Precision Hunter rings, they are made from 7075 aluminum as a more durable option to standard 6061.

Here’s a quick comparison of 7075, 6061 aluminum and 1018 steel. 7075 exceeds 1018 in most pertinent mechanical properties and weighs 1/3rd as much. This is why 7075 is our preferred material for scope rings on higher recoiling rifles and guns that are going to see rough use… even though it’s expensive.

That being said, I love the look of a set of blued steel rings on an old school polished scope. I bought the scope pictured in college, rather than buying food that semester. I still have it. Doesn’t get much use anymore, but it’s still a favorite.

@Fred@Exterra any future consideration to do dovetail rings?

I like the built in level cap on your mount. But being blunt I'm never going to use your one piece product that has the action screws obstructed by the scope, for me as a user having to dismount the scope from the mount is a hard pass. Can't check for loose screws if something wonky is going on, can't easily move scopes around or just remove/remount to the action without having to relevel the scope in the rings. Its super nice in my opinion to just reattach a scope in rings to a rifle and just a quick zero validation. I understand if that isn't a market you are interested in but some 7075 dovetail rings would be a nice offering if you could roll them out cost competitive to the alternatives. Maybe I am a minority but figured some honest feedback and advocacy for 7075 dovetail rings doesn't hurt. :)

I also would be in on some 7075 dovetail rings.
