It’s quite expensive, but considering that it’s a carry gun that allows for rapid target engagement, does it perform better than a 24 C or the CS?
I was pleasantly surprised by the trigger, on all of the HD line. Especially given that they're Series 80-esque, with the trigger-pull also disengaging the firing pin block.
My C24's trigger is pretty crap by 1911/2011 standards...almost feels more like a rolling break than a crisp 1911 break. I've been going back and forth on getting Infinity internals for it, and haven't yet for 2 reasons. First, I'm shooting a bit better with the C24 than my DWXc, and am
very happy with the performance. The second is that I suspect the existing trigger will have max reliability and durability over time, compared to one with a trigger job or aftermarket internals, regardless of quality. At least for the only C24 I've shot, compared to a couple of HDs I've handled, I'd say the HDs have at least as good of a trigger, if not a bit better.
This next bit is all hearsay, so take it for what it's worth, but there are only really 2 things that seem to keep coming up with the HDs. Some seem to have some reliability teething problems, that may or may not be related to needing hotter ammo to cycle reliability. Can't tell if it's the individual guns with the individual shooters and those circumstances, or if it's just an early-production issue on a new model that hasn't quite been tuned yet, but it's something that does seem to pop up that I haven't heard on the C24s. The other thing is that they seem to have a notable hot-spot on the thumb safety for a lot of guys, just inside the thumb knuckle in the web of the shooting hand.
Overall, I wouldn't take an HD in general over the C24, but in reality it's probably like comparing Ferraris and Lambos - nitpicking on the edges, mostly of personal preference, over two exceptionally good gun designs.
So now I'll order new holsters.
