I personally have nighthawk in the 1911 platform. Only 1.5k rounds down range but no failures! I have a springfield Prodigy comp 5" (yes, they actually are a piece of junk and had to send it back as the origional barrel was not cut right) and had a Smith slick it up. Cost about the same as a stock staccato but feels smoother with a new trigger and is all around a few hundred less than staccato. (Not as sexy and will never resale like a staccato but I wanted a "gammer gun" I could use and abuse...)
If I was to buy a top tier 2011, it would not be a staccato, it would be a Vanta 9 (pick your model). I ran one of these and they are dang nice! I could not justify the extra coin myself.
The only other one I would look at for a "fun/carry" gun would be the platypus. You can over customize this thing more than any AR and add 100 colors to every part. Uses glock mags and feels great in the hand. I, sadly, have not had a chance to see how it feels in the hand when firing...
Figure out why you want a 1911/2011 and then go the route that fills that role.
Even if it means paying a gunsmith to upgrade...
