I've looked into going to southeast Alaska and talked to the Fish and Game but with the units being draw only hunting it makes it a bit tougher. From what he told me, all of southeast alaska is draw only and the drawing that just ended December 17th was for Spring 2015. If I put in next year and hit the 50% draw odds, I'm still not hunting until 2016.

Also have to buy a hunting license to put in for drawings. Might be fine if you're planning on going deer hunting anyway.

I am really getting excited about my planned spring Alaska Peninsula brown bear trip!! I hope I don't jinx it by thinking about it so much!!

I haven't looked forward to a hunt this much in a LOOOOng time!!

We are leaving my friends Supercub at a Guide friends base camp, and shuttle from there to our hunt area.
It takes a lot of enjoyment away from your hunt if you have to worry about the airplane!! The wind can get ferocious, and the bears love to destroy
airplanes!! The second aircraft I bought was from a guy that had just rebuilt it after a grizzly tore it up while he was out bear hunting!!

It just doesn't get any better than the Ak Penninsula in the spring. That's the Super Bowl of bear hunting!

But a long flight in the back of a Cub. I've done it a few times and while you get to see a lot of cool country usually my butt goes numb and my legs cramp up in the first hour!

You got that right!!!!
Even the front seat gets really old after a couple of hours!! I think they designed a Cub for Chinese pilots!!!!
That's why we trade out every time we stop to take a leak. We are both pilots, and both 6' 2"!!!!

Thanks Dave,

Yeh , when a guy is doing stuff like that for work, you sometimes think " what a stupid way to make a living!!"

But then you get away from it for a while and you really miss it!!

I feel that way about guiding and bush flying!!! Especially as I get older!. I am very thankful for the experiences that I have had!!!

Not this year but maybe in the future. The daughter said she would like to go when she's done with school and sports. I started building her points last year, Chesnimnus is where I would take her. I personally don't have any interest in shooting a bear, but I love the country, she likes to hunt so it would be fun to take her.

Just nailed down a SW tag for oregon. Have 1,000 acres of private land that is having multiple clear cuts going on right now. Should be a good spring and fall for bear there

Ne WA for me. I drew it last year with 3 points, so I don't know if I'll get it again this year with no points. Fun hunt

Not sure where, but will probably do one this spring. If I draw a WY elk tag then I will probably do a spot and stalk in the area I draw to get familiar with the area. If not then will look for somewhere else conducive to spot and stalk type hunting and do a hike in wilderness type hunt.

I wouldn't rule out Alaska either. I did a Brown bear hunt there last Summer (unsuccessful) and if I can get some good intel from the guide just might go back for a blackie this Spring.

I drew POW Spring 2015 which should be fun. Looking back, I will be hunting there more in the fall as the restrictions have been lifted. I'd really like to head up to Idaho from Colorado for 10 days one of these days......Any general areas there that one should look into? Highest bear concentrations?
