Good morning, throwing out a warning here to anyone booking a hunt in BC. They have not been convicted yet but it’s not looking very good. Hopefully you choose to spend your money elsewhere. As a B.C. resident this type of shit really pisses me off.

I’m just a resident B.C. hunter. Not trying to start a big battle on here. Just making people aware of the charges. There has been far too many people poaching in order to fill their pockets lately and quite honestly I’m tired of it. Guide/outfitters should know better.
Im sure its easy for guides to want to poach when they get attorneys to pay them 60k for a sheep hunt.

I recently phoned a GO into the CO service for having a photo on their website of a dead goat in a goat closed area. I could tell by some distinctive mountains and a lake in the background.

Same guide was convicted of killing a Dall Sheep in the YK and claiming he was in BC... at trial it was determined he was over 10 kms on the wrong side of the border!

Being a good hunter or successful guide doesn't mean you are a good guy... or smart.

If anyone is curious - this ram was taken in the ecological reserve by the outfitter in question. I have no way of knowing if this hunt is what led to the charges and I doubt the hunter was complicit in any wrong-doing.

I was looking at them for a moose hunt in 2027. I talked to them at the sheep show, got a good recommendation from a person I respect, checked a few references which were just okay, called and texted Shawn Gilson over a couple of days, he took a week to send a short text letting me know he’d get back to me. By that time I’d already moved on to another outfitter and I’ve still yet to hear from him. The charges might explain why he didn’t contact me but I originally figured they didn’t want to deal with a bow hunter.
