This is probably a repeat thread but I want to get some opinions on sock selection. I'm hunting archery elk I'm CO this yr early sept. What type of socks do some of you use. Mid, heavy, etc.? I have lightweight smartwool and although they're not too hot, they have no padding. They feel like a dress sock. I have a pair of smartwool mids and they have nice padding but are too hot. I'd like to find a sock with heavier padding w/out the added thickness all around. And w/out having to buy several pairs just to figure it out! Thanks in advance!

I like my darn tough pretty good, REI has a big selection of em to look at before you buy, sox addict has em cheap
I wear my lorpens around the house, I prob have 20 diff brands of merino sox that are ok but when I more it'll be darn tough

My feet are always so dang hot, especially with a GTX or similar lining. I have superfeet insoles and just wear a light smartwool "running" socks. This helps combat sweat, which keeps my feet warmer/dryer.

lorapen cool max merino socks over a silk liner in my lowes when its warm and im hiking a lot works well for me.

I use expedition weight wool socks year 'round with a silk liner. Works for me.
If you change the weight of your socks you change the fit of the footwear. Best to use the socks you fitted the footwear with or obtain new footwear.
