I started out with Grandpa's Pre-64 Model 70 30-06, with the steel butt plate and open sights. Around 14 years old I bought a Savage 110 in 30-06. A few more 06's along the way until I found Rokslide in 2014.
Back then, the DIY Medium-LR Rokslide Special was a Tikka T3 SL in 7mmRM! (BrockA made them famous!) Mine served me very well for a few years and I'd wager that the barrel is 3/4 done (close to 1000 rounds thru that sweetheart!). I also picked up a T3 SL in 30-06 as I dabbled in the lightweight mtn rifle stuff.
When my wife gave her blessing to turn a truck I owned into a custom, I built an unbelievable 300WM.
The Creedmoor bug bit me and I have had a handful....they kill without drama a lot.
The old 7rm action now wears a 18" 6.5 SAUM barrel (suppressed) and is my go to. The 300WM pretty much sits in the safe, which makes me feel really guilty...My T3x CTR in 6.5 CM is in the mix and my T3x in .223 is as well, for my daughters and me.
I still have a superlite in 6.5CM and 30-06 that will soon become a 22CM and a 6CM....and I have considered mothballing the SAUM for the time being.
I have a really hard time selling guns, but I contemplate turning the ones I don’t use (and a stupid amount of ammo and components) into to money every day......
Anymore, I'd be more than content with just my Tikkas configured to 22LR (T1x), .223, 22, 6 and 6.5 CM and 6.5 SAUM (although the Mag bolt face may become a 6mm of some sort, too)
Grandpa's Model 70 is in my safe now, too, but it's not going anywhere. At least I have that excuse to hang onto the 30-06 ammo and components.
