What is everyone’s favorite pad? I’m looking at a few of the big Agnes insulated pads but open to suggestions if a bunch of people are raving about something different.

Are all sleeping pads terrible?

I tried so hard to get a good comfortable sleeping pad (went with the Sea to Summit EtherLite XT) but still, I can’t get a good night of rest on it. Is sleeping on an ultra lite pad just a skill I need to hone in on or is there something I’m missing?

Insulated pad

looking for recommendations on an insulated sleeping pad for a big guy thats packable. I currently have s Klymit Static V and have only used it in a wall tent with a stove. This year im packing in and Im worried about its R Value.

Yes sir, I’ve read these forums. However, my post was more so geared toward getting some more feedback from people who have been out scouting & packing to see if they had tried something new in the past month or so. I should have clarified.

thermarest basecamp for me...long/wide(30") if not carrying it to far. heavy, r6..

thermarest trail pro is 4.4r and not bad to carry. pretty cushy also.

I appreciate the input. A ton of people love the Thermarest for sure. I had a bad experience with a Neoair so I’m trying to figure out if I want to give them another go.

I like the thermarest self inflating pads....some foam in them in case of puncture disaster. Trail scout is great for warm temps. Midway some times has thermarest blems on sale.

Xtherm 100% I have an old version with an RF of like 7 and a newer NeoAir Xlite NXT pad with an RF of 4.5. I have a Big Agnes one too that is fine but is heavier . The new NeoAir is noticeably quieter and much lighter than my older version. If you are looking for a new pad find the lightest, decently insulated thermarest pad available and pull the trigger. You won’t be disappointed.

I'm not just posting this to coax you into a trade, but I've tried Big Agnes Q Cores, Nemo tensors, and Exped Downmats and Synmats. By far the most reliable were the expeds. The downmat was overkill (both size and weight) and the Synmat was durable, warm and lasted forever.

Great warranty and customer service too.

Thermarest NeoAir is my favorite, although I usually bring the large/rectangular version over the mummy so I'm not falling off the pad all night.

I've seen plenty of facebook complaints about the Uberlites de-laminating, FYI.

REI brand, relatively cheap comfortable and reliable

Nemo Tensor insulated long wide or Sea to Summit Ether Lite XT women’s, it’s warmer than the men’s and maybe lighter. Both plenty big and comfortable for me at 6’3 240, side and stomach sleeper.

I ended up with 3 Expeds. A synmat 7 long and an UL version. Also have the Downmat 9 for colder nights.
