WTB Sleeping Bag for a backpacking rookie

Hey guys I’m starting to put together some gear for camping and hunting public land whitetail and maybe elk eventually.

I was looking to get a sleeping bag that won’t be ridiculously heavy but still warm at cooler temperatures. Just curious what’s out there! Thanks in advanced

If one of these guys can’t help you out, check out the Kelty cosmic 20. I don’t have one but I heard good things for the price.

I’ve heard good things about both Outdoor Vitals and Hyke and Byke. I’d look for anything around 3 lb or less. Synthetic is cheaper than down. I have a Snugpak 32 degree that I started with. I’ve upgraded since then but it fit the bill when I needed it to. It was around $60 new.

Check out REI.com, and look at the "Used Gear" section. A lot of good deals. Just picked my brother up a sleeping bag off there, and its like new.

The REI Trailbreak 20 or 30 are both good bags for the price. And you can find them in that Used Gear section for an extra $20-$30 off at times.

Slumber Jack down wind 0 degree is warm, packable, down and $169. Not an expert but for price and warmth I’d recommend it. I stayed plenty warm in mid-September. 2 pounds 15 ounces.
