What are you guys shooting for as far as total weight for your sleep system? I'm looking at shelter, bag & pad. Obviously one has to consider comfort vs. light weight.

My total system comes in just under 5.5 lbs which I think is pretty good. I have tried to get lighter with a quilt and different pads but comfort went down hill quick.
If I really want to go light I can ditch the Oware and bring a 8'x10' tarp and get that down another pound.

- Oware 9'x9' pyramid w/11 stakes - 29.9oz
- TiGoat Ptarmigan bivy - 6.8oz
- Marmot Cloudbreak 30 - 33oz
- Big Agnes Q-core SL - 18oz

Big Agnes Fly Creek UL 2 Platinum - 2# 2 ounces

Neo Air Large - 1# 2 ounces

Montbell UL Super Spiral Down Hugger 15 Degree - 2# 4 ounces

Total 5# 8 ounces.

So not to hijack but how about one step further? How much does/did your current system cost?
- Oware $213
- TiGoat $120 w/bug net
- Marmot Cloudbreak $120 on sale
- BA Q-core SL - $90

So $543 total.

Thermarest Xtherm 15 oz $190.00
Tigoat Raven Omni bivy 7.1 oz $165.00
Zpacks 30* quilt 15 oz. $380.00
Zpacks Hexamid Solo plus with (10) ti stakes 7.2 oz. $235.00

Total weight 44.3 oz. or 2 lbs 12.3 oz. (all in a Kifaru 5 string @ 2.5 oz.)

Total cost $970.00
The stuff sack would be another $45.00

This is my September setup. If I'm hunting in really nasty weather I'll take a different tent and leave the bivy and tarp.

I have been really happy with the comfort of this system. In the past I was using a Thermarest prolite 3 and a Marmot helium 15* bag. I'm way more comfortable now than I have ever been with a backpacking sleep system.

23 bucks an ounce. I should add mine up and see where its at. I wonder if theres a formula we could average out between everybody's sleep system weight vs cost to see what % the dollar amount goes up as the weight gets lower. I bet there is

I like it littlebuf - I am at $6.25 per oz with the cost of the stakes. So basically 1/2 the cost but almost 2x the weight of Justin's set up.

Floorless cost is $705 - $11.79/oz , inclosed cost is $675 - $8.69/oz. I shop around and take advantage of REI's 20% coupons as much as possible.

im gonna guess 10-12 bucks per oz is gonna be the fine line of a good, light, comfortable system that with some budgeting is very achievable. LB youre right there, eagle, cmeier, myself all right there

im predicting to get under 5# 8-10$ a oz
under 4# 11-13$ a once
and under 3 is going to be spendy as Justin illustrated, with the closer you get o the bottom end of these weights the price climbing pretty quik
