Do you think I could get by with a layering system of a Core LS, Traverse LS and maybe a down vest for the mornings for September trips? These will take place in the Wyo rockies..

Also Im leaning towards a WildThings Wind shirt for cutting wind and for short rain storms.

I already have lower body stuffs.

Throw your rain jacket in to cut the wind as well and I think you will be good. I personally use a FL Llano top, traverse 1/4 zip and a kelvin lite vest most of archery here in CO and it's a good setup. Can get a bit chilly in the an or after a good climb but warms up quick after the suns up. I also have the wind pro hoodie and really like it so far but have not made it up to the hills enough with it yet.

Yep, that would do, but I'd pick the merino base layer shirt over the core.

The traverse is awesome as a mid layer imo.
X2 on what bbrown said about the rain jacket.

The core LS will dry faster than the Llano. Personally, I prefer the synthetics for base layers in early season for that reason.

Here is what I used when i was in the colorado rockies at 8500 feet. I used a base layer compression, traverse hoody, jetstream jacket. I did have my kelvin jacket in my pack if I needed it. I was comfortable but there was one day it was horrid with the wind. I did also have the stormfront lite in case of rain.

Good to hear. Im pulling the trigger on a Core LS, Traverse LS zip, and a kelvin lite vest (in lead so I can wear it around town too).

Now I just need my rain gear. I might just pick up something from sierra trading post since its so cheap. I have a rule, NEVER pay full retail lol...and I haven't yet!

I can get the Sitka rain gear at 40% off...just gotta save up for it if I want it lol

Is the first lite boundary stormtight good? Like 160.00 good?

FWIW the Traverse Hoody rather than the 1/4 zip is worth considering for the cooler temps of late Sept into Oct. I absolutely fell in love with it last year. Bought one for Waterfowl as well. The one drawback for it is the white internal material color so what I did was when not fully zipped up rather than allow the top to be open I would fold it under itself around the front so it didn't expose the white inner. (hope that made sense)

I've used base layer/traverse shirt for early October Colorado Rockies hunting. With your added insulation layer and wind/rain layer you should be fine. I haven't been able to cough up for the Sitka raingear yet, even with the same discount. I bought the Cabela's Space Rain on sale, and for the two times it's been out of the pack it's worked just fine.

Fully agree with this! Good point.

I didn't go with a hoody since I prefer just wearing a beanie (larue tactical, love the fit on it). Everything came in, fits good, cant wait to use it in the field.

Still thinking about the First Lite Stormtight for a rain jacket. Its cheaper than the dewpoint (160 vs 180)
