All,

I am currently trying to decide which jacket to get and hoping someone has experience with both of these. Our local Sportsman's Warehouse had the Coldfront on hand but not the Blizzard, so I am not able to handle and compare the two. I am leaning towards the Coldfront as of now based on the fact I found it on sale for $450. Between the big savings and the fact that I run warm....I think it would be plenty. Couple it with a puffy jacket/vest I think I would be approaching the Blizzard. But, for some reason, part of me thinks I need the Blizzard. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Thanks

If you decide to go with the Coldfront, checkout camofire. I got mine for $325.
I haven't used mine yet but will be wearing it on Kodiak in November.

If you go with the Blizzard Parka make sure you get a smaller size than normal. They run big and I doubt anyone would try to layer under it with anything big...it's like wearing a sleeping bag with arms.

Coldfront jacket will get you a wider range of use.

The only time I can see the blizzard parka being used in a hunt would be:
1. On horseback thru ice cold weather and no hiking or movement on foot.
2. Stand hunting for whitetail in Canada at 20 below.
3. Lastly, hunting Polar Bears on an ice flow in the Arctic Circle.

Hope this helps lol

Lol, it does. You are re-confirming my thoughts.

I think it's setted, I found the Coldfront jacket and bibs for $337 and $322. Hard to pass at those prices and I get both for less than the Blizzard Parka.

I have both jackets. Jdavis nailed it above. You aren't going to hike in the Blizzard in even the coldest temperatures. The Cold Frnt is one of the most versatile jackets you can own. It doubles as a soft shell and rain gear and when paired with a puffy, it will get you through just about any cold weather you'll ever encounter.
