I’m really liking the glass so far in my Z3 but I’d like to get a full season with it before declaring it my favorite. Right now it’s leaning that way and I hope to add another one to the safe shortly.

I’ll preface this with I don’t do any long range hunting and stretching out for me is 500 yards at the range so it doesn’t require much dialing. I’ve had stellar luck with all of the vx3’s that I own for hunting purposes, several in 2.5-8 and 3.5-10.

A few years ago i would have laughed at someone if they said this, but after hearing all the hype on here, a year of hunting, shots from 50yd to 400yd on deer, antelope, elk, plus a few hundred practice rounds up to 600, I have no problem putting this on a hunting rifle with the intent to hit 2moa out to 500yd in field conditions/positions.

I have a Leupold 3-9×50 VXII that I'm pretty fond of. Very clear, a bit old-school by today's standards, but I use MPBR for hunting and it fits that job nicely.

Bushnell LRHS2. It functions as a riflescope should: holds and maintains zero, dials correctly, returns to zero. To top it all off the glass quality is pretty dang good. Everyone who has looked through one of mine is surprised/impressed.

This is my stock reply regarding scopes for me: Leupold fixed four power.
Agreed. A 4X scope will handle any reasonable big game shot and short to medium range varmint. You can shoot as about as good with a 4X as you can with an 8-10X. Jack O'Connor said 90% of all big game hunting required nothing more than a 2.5X scope. Finn Aagaard said essentially the same thing.

Of what I currently own, SWFA fixed 10x. I want to try a 6x one day, but I love that the 10 gives me what my binos give me. Increases repetitiveness and redundancy in my kit, which I like.

That said, one day I’ll own an LRHS of some flavor… just have to find the right deal…

I'll second that. Leupold does a good job from my experience. A Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 has been in the fleet for 21 years, a Vari-X IIc 3-9x40 for almost 30 years, and most recently the VX3HD 3.5-10 CDS ZL in the past year has been added.

I am an MPBR hunter as well, took the CDS ZL by default since they don't offer it without.

I've had great success with the older Bausch & Lomb elite 3200's as well as the older Redfields, specifically an Accu-Trac 2-7 and 3-9 Illuminator. The history and memories in the field with all of those make them tough to not choose as a favorite.

I'll take the VX3HD 3.5-10 until it proves otherwise. Great glass compared to the older ones.
