Well after reading all of these issues of course hem blowing up, it finally happened to me today. I figured since I don’t push the pressure and never run it to hot. But I was shooting a 280ai and off she went. Scared the crap outta me but after I figured out I still had both eyes and all fingers found the parts. Took an hour to find the end in the long grass. One baffle was still in my cover which is wrecked as well. I’m hoping syco customer service takes care of this. For those of you who have had this happen, how did it turn out when you got it back? Does it look cobbled back together or look like new? I assume they have to use the blast chamber since it has the serial number but I’d prefer they rebuild and re weld from new so this doesn’t happen again or look shotty.
What’s your barrel length and how many shots on the can?

Mine came back looking brand new. I moved it to a 6arc . Not sure what they did. Can't even see where the repair was. Do you have pics of yours? And hope you can jump to the other thread and add your information.

Less than 1000 on the can. Had less than 50 on a 22 in 300 prc, prolly a couple hundred on an 18 in 6.5creedmoor and a 100 on a 20 in 280ai and a few on a 6 arc. Not much use and should certainly be able to handle that.

I’ll hop over to that thread and post what happened. I’m hoping they take care of it and looks good when they are done.

Great. Now it’s making me nervous. Just put one in jail last week. Planning on using it on a 24” 300prc, 17.5” Ruger American compact 7mm-08 and a 18” 6.5 creedmoor. Maybe even on a couple 22” 22-250’s. But I also have a TBAC Ultra 7 .264 I can continue using for those. But man that sucks it did that!

I highly recommend anyone interested send an email to silencerco and request that they make a Ti reflex that would use a direct thread barrel mount and bravo thread to connect to the back of a scythe can. A 4" reflex for the scythe would be so awesome.

I did this yesterday asking if they have any plans for one. The response was that he didn't know but that it sounded interesting and would send the idea to the engineers

To that note as to adding a reflex back end to an existing can. I came across a vendor note as to why the AB reflex extension wasn't available as a stand alone part anymore. It stated that the ATF deemed that particular reflex extension a supressor in and of itself and could not be sold alone but had to be sold as a unit with a supressor. Take that for what it's worth as I haven't researched it further.

Interesting.... their definitions become frustrating for sure. I have a Form 1 .22 lr can that came as a kit several years ago. You could buy extra aluminum or Ti baffles if they wore out or you messed up while drilling them (after approval, obviously). Now you can't purchase the baffles due to the above definition.

Definitely a bummer about the reflex - something like that for the Scythe would be pretty cool.

That’s what I was going to say. They won’t be able to sell the reflex part as a stand alone.

Now, if a company made a “barrel shroud” that happened to have HUB threads on the distal end, that might work…

Those have been out of stock forever and I've wondered if it's for the same reason that the AB is unavailable.
They just released them last summer, but almost all their stuff is back ordered these days.

IANAL and all that, but from what Andrew posted - they are legal to sell since OCL also make a "blast diverter" that can use them. If a company only makes suppressors, then the reflex becomes a suppressor part, which is controlled. If they have other uses for the reflex, then it doesn't count as a suppressor part. I think end caps are sorta the same.

Ugh. I forgot about that. No way would I pay another tax stamp to be able to buy a reflex. I assume that's the only way it could happen with the current law, but they'd have to serialize the reflexes. Unlikely, I think
