I’ve got one of these in jail, purchased after seeing the reviews here… and now slightly worried. I think I should be fine though it’s going on a 7mm rem mag 24”?

Not positive it was linked here. If so another won’t hurt for visibility.

When they become available, it seems as though a bunch become available at a time. In talking with Silencerco, they said that capital armory and silencer shop tend to get them first in stock. I was lucky and it only took a couple weeks for mine to come in. So far so good, but treading lightly going forward. :ROFLMAO:

I wouldn’t worry with a 24” 7 mag. My scythe blew up on an 18” saum. It’s going back on there once I get it back, I have faith that it’ll be good to go once I have it fixed. My brother runs one on a 24” 6.5 PRC without issue for 700ish rounds now

Wow, it's seemed like they were available everywhere recently. I'll check my LGS tomorrow when I head that way. They've had them in stock continuously for awhile.
I actually just got a response from a dealer that says they'll have them next week. Fingers crossed.

thats good to hear, it will take me a while to get to that round count, and i have no plans on chopping this barrel.

I have an original Dead Air Nomad and other cans for other things. But I want this can to be shorter and lighter, and it needs to work on at least the short 30-06.
I don't think I'd worry about a 20" '06. Even though it's the same capacity as a prc, that is going to be less pressure at the muzzle than a 20" 6.5 prc

Please educate me. Because 60k vs 65k psi SAAMI chamber pressures or something else?

Ya. Saami '06 is 57k or 60k.... Something like that. Prc is either 63k or 65k.

Then there is also the bore diameter. For the same length barrel, for a given starting pressure, the larger diameter bore would drop in pressure more by the end of the barrel due to a larger volume of expansion of the hot gases.... If that makes sense. I'm explaining it terribly.

That would of course be slightly dependent on the powder type used, but overall the pressure drop would be greater for the '06.

I understand the bore diameter/area part. But I would kinda expect the different powder burn speeds to equalize things a bit. But I honestly have no idea.

I used to assume more overbore = harder on suppressors but was told it’s more a function of how much powder is burning and actually same amount of powder and pressure but in a bigger bore was harder on suppressors because that pressure exists over a bigger cross section.

I got mine yesterday. It will primarily live on my 223 with a Hanson Brothers 5.56 cap, but will probably see the 243 at some point. If I get something with larger case capacity than a 308, I will probably use my Raptor 8 instead after these reports. Particularly as I like 16 inch barrels.

Did a manufacturer tell you this?

Yes, I think the amount of powder burning plays into it, but only as a factor of barrel length. A 300 rum with a 30" barrel would definitely not be an issue compared to a 20" rum.

For bore size., yea I think it makes sense that if the pressure at muzzle is the same between a 6mm and 30cal bore, the 30 cal would be harder on the suppressor due to.... Something. The larger bores always sound louder. I don't know if it is the amplitude of the shock wave or what.

Anyway, I would be more comfortable with a 20" 30-06 than a 20" 6.5prc. but I also haven't shot a 6.5prc and I am also not a suppressor engineer!
