Sounds like a gen 2 be worth waiting for and move on to something else if in the market.

My scythe only has maybe 500 rounds through it of 18" 6 creed, 18" 22 creed, and 24" 6.5 creed. No problems so far, but none of those rounds are burning more than 43 grains of powder.

4 or 5 failures in this thread is definitely concerning. However, I wonder what the sales of these are in comparison to the others mentioned in this thread - nomad TI XC, DD STI. Have to imagine it is at least 4-5X.

I think personally they sell a lot more. And with that a higher number of failures isn’t surprising. But talking safety and what they advertise for a can even with the group here having half a dozen isn’t cool.

True but the ratio of people on this site who have a scythe and have had it fail seems high. Rokslide scythe owners is a pretty small % of total scythe owners I would think.

It’s almost like the same theory when the “L” scopes are brought up. They sell a lot of scopes so we’re going to see more failures.

That’s what I’m saying as well. Seems like a bigger problem then they are giving credit to (regardless of sales numbers).

I blew my Scythe up in September on a 20-inch 300 PRC. I'd had approximately 3,000 rounds of 6.5CM and .308 on it and it lasted 15 shots on the .300. They got it back to me within a week and still one of my favorite cans, but I won't be shooting it on any short barreled mags anytime soon. I'm excited to see how this Dead Air Nomad Ti XC does. So far, so good, and with the SiCo Ti direct thread HUB mount, it's only 1/10 ounce heavier than the Scythe

Did the SiCo Ti direct mount shave any length off of the XC along with the ounces?

Yes, with the brake and thread-over adapter, the Nomad Ti XC is 1 inch longer and 3.2 ounces heavier than with the SiCo Ti Hub 5/8x24 DT adapter

Why are these weld not failing? Same 800 degree stipulations

Edit: they used to say 800 degrees, don’t see it anymore anywhere on their site but it’s still a welded titanium tubeless suppressor.

TBAC cans are NOT tubeless. And they literally publish that they do that to keep the suppressor properly durable

The gen 2 ultras are tubeless per Tbac. Gen 1 had a tube I know.

I stand corrected.
In my post, I was referring to below. But after finding it and reading it again, I mistook Zak's statement about fitting "gen2 baffles with just enough geometry changes so they fit in the old tube".
He was referring to a recoring of gen1. Gen2 are indeed tubless. Carry on

This is disappointing. I was about to order one of these. Primary hosts would be an 18” 6.5 Creedmoor and a 20” 30-06. The ‘06 is burning as much powder as a 6.5 prc, and I would want this can to work on a potential magnum in the future. I guess I’m back to undecided on my lightweight buying can choice again.
