I blew my Scythe up in September on a 20-inch 300 PRC. I'd had approximately 3,000 rounds of 6.5CM and .308 on it and it lasted 15 shots on the .300. They got it back to me within a week and still one of my favorite cans, but I won't be shooting it on any short barreled mags anytime soon. I'm excited to see how this Dead Air Nomad Ti XC does. So far, so good, and with the SiCo Ti direct thread HUB mount, it's 1 ounce heavier than the Scythe

Thanks for the data point. This makes be more comfortable going with my 6.5 swede plan, but has me thinking that without a recall and a ‘fix’ magnums are out for this can.

Does anyone on this thread have volume >=6.5 prc experience on a <=20 inch barrel?

Weld quality control vs a basic design issue is my question.

Further use will be exclusively on a 18” 22 CM and 223.

Per the pics Is that one ounce or one tenth of one ounce??

Hopefully you don't have issues with the dead air cause it doesn't sound like they repair things in any sort of a timely fashion, at least prior reports were that way.

They did not manufacture the welded cans in house was my understanding. I'm pretty sure at least the Nomads were outsourced to KGM. I think the 3d printed ones are made in house so any needed repairs might be a little different?

Well this is depressing, I was dead set on a Scythe for my next dedicated hunting can and they're in stock right now. Interested to see if anyone that's had a failure gets any more feedback.

The reports of customer service being sparse and a shrug while dealing with the 3rd party factored into my impression in how it all was handled too. They had control of that part in house.

But maybe its all dialed in now, time will tell. Its just not drawing my desire at the moment.

Which one is quieter in your opinion?

I need more time shooting them side by side, but the Dead Air SEEMS a bit quieter..probably because of the lack of a brake endcap. The DA also has a bit more complex baffles and and interior design b/c it's 3D printed. Hoping that this and the B&T SRBS end up being more durable because the baffles are printed, not welded. Time will tell.

I had a brain lapse, it was a tenth of an ounce. The Nomad had the SiCo direct thread Ti mount installed in that photo rather than the QD mount it came with. Also, those Nomad Ti can's are 3D printed, so I don't think KGM made them, but I know a guy there, so I can find out.

The pre XC ones were 3d printed too? I think the Nomad Ti XC are printed, the non-XC nomad Ti appear to be welded.

I haven't seen one of the non-XC cans in hand, so I can't say for sure, but the regular Nomad looks to be welded. The Ti XC is definitely printed.

Out of curiosity I’d be interested to see if there is any correlation with asr brake vs direct thread and failure rates of the suppressor.

It would be good to have a thread with anyone who’s had a failure with all pertinent info….barrel length, cartridge, rounds through can, etc.

I was about ready to pull the trigger on a scythe but I’m holding off for now.
