Scythe Ti owners: Have you had a Scythe Ti catastrophic failure?

No, I have been trying to blow up a UM can with those. :)
Do you have any knowledge based on that project about if/how 3D printed cans can be repaired if needed? Not suggesting the UM project will need such a thing, just curious if you have any insight on the general topic based on peripheral exposure to the manufacturing and development?
 
I'm definitely looking at the Nomad Ti, but also the OCL Hydrogen K—what I'm no longer looking at is the Scythe Ti

I was primed to talk you out of a Hydro K in lieu of a S model but reviewing the '23 TBAC summit results, the hydro K metered very impressively at shooters ear hanging with some of popular 7" cans. The S model was still a fair step up though.

I still think for limited firing schedules and 308 based cases and smaller and moderate length barrels, the scythe is somewhat attractive. If you're shooting 50 rounds of 243 or 308 through it a year on hunting rifles I'd really doubt there'll be an issue. Not saying there isn't fair reason to look elsewhere though.
 
I'm sure you're aware but for others reading there's an important distinction between the Nomad Ti and the Nomad Ti XC. The XC is the 3d printed one, the Ti I believe is welded.

Thanks- XC is the one I'm looking at :) I might be wrong, but I don't think they offer the welded one (Ti) anymore; they show it on their site as a "legacy product".

I dont think 3 d printed can be fixed. It’s laser sintered in layers to be a solid part. Interlayer adhesion can be an issue with all printed parts. I expect once it’s fully sintered it can no longer be bonded and is unable to be repaired.
 
3D printed Ti parts get welded together all of the time. No idea why a can couldn't be put back together via welding. Take a look at the bicycle industry and welded 3D printed Ti parts.
I may be wrong. My experience is all with plastics and paper printers. Dlp, sla, ls nylon. My understanding is the Ti printers are similar to the ones that do ls nylon. Just using Ti powder instead of nylon. Probably a stronger laser as well.
 
Update on my warranty claim now that I got a shipment notification.

My can failed on 4/12 and I submitted warranty claim that evening.

I received an RMA from SiCo with return instructions 4/14. They requested to include the entire suppressor for return and I told them I could not find the front half. They replied that it wasn’t a problem.

I shipped the suppressor on 4/17 and it delivered to SiCo on 4/21.

I received a return shipment notification today (4/22) with a return delivery of 4/24.

I will post pictures of the new can and old pictures of my failed can when it was new if they look significantly different.

I didn’t push any questions on failure rates or over share my host firearm details as I didn’t want it to affect my claim prior to repair. I plan on requesting this information once I have my suppressor back.

Keep us updated. It probably dosent matter that you didn’t ask questions, it dosent seem like anybody has gotten any good answers from them.
