I have been looked at getting the zulu6 but dont know if the pro is worth it. I was looking at either the 12x42hdx or the 14x50 pro. Any opinions, good or bad I would really appreciate it.

Can confirm that the 2nd gen are the way to go. I purchased both for a side by side comparison. New pros were quite a bit larger and heavier. The glass was better but marginally(didn’t test low light). I kept the 2nd gen’s because they were lighter, better stabilization and $600 cheaper. The new stabilization on the pros wasnt as steady as the scan mode on the 2nd gen. The target mode really sets them apart.

I wanted to dislike them so I could feel better about owning my NL’s😂. In two weeks I’ll be taking the Zulu’s and NL’s to Maui for a hunt. I have a feeling i will be grabbing the Zulu’s over the NL’s.

Swaro,

If you are listening, we are ready for a set of IS bins.

My 18’s are shipping back now and I ordered another set of 18’s from sportsman’s. Might pick up the new 16’s as well to do a side by side by side photo comparison.

Please try to take some photos if possible. Nobody is showing side by side images, just a bunch of paid shills claiming they're "next level"...

Sorry guys, they were already sent back. The image is better but it doesn’t come close to alpha glass. IMO the slightly better glass doesn’t overcome the extra weight/size and worse stabilization.

How do I know if I have the Gen 2's? Is the only difference scan mode vs. target mode? Might be a dumb question but how do I know if mine have these different modes?

Any other feedback on these? Looking to buy and I’m wondering if it’s early QC production issues with the Pros.

I have the 16x42 HDX and compared them to my buddies 16x50 pros he just purchased. The pair of pros we tested were better than the hdx in resolution and ease of view (larger exit pupil). It was mid day so I can’t speak to light transmission.

I want a pair of the 14x or 16x pros for the larger exit pupil, but maybe the 12 hdx are a better buy.

It’s a lot more money for the marginal improvement of maybe two extra minutes of light each day. FOV and weight/size hit too.

I just bought another pair of the gen 2 10x30’s and these look like they’ll be awesome for my son or glassing from a vehicle.

i just bought some 14x50s. I still have some friends with 16s I can compare with. I talked to a few people about them I am expecting better light transmission, easier to get behind, less glare, and slighty better optics for a much chunkier bino. I have had now, the 10s, 12s, and 16s, do i can probably give you some pros and cons. fingers crossed, I had to try them despite some of the negatives online.

I decided on the 12x42 hdx today. I really am looking for a chest binocular to use off hand. I have 15x56 swaros for long glassing sessions off a tripod when I want to spend time picking apart country.

The 50mm were so big it defeated the purpose of what I wanted to use them for.
