I needed to re zero my Tikka 284 Win. after moving the scope foward in the rings a little. I shot this group, made a few clicks of adjustment, and she is ready to go again! Love this rifle!

I shot this group in a regional F class 600 yard match. 22 shots in less than 20 minutes. Factory Tikka roughtech action and barrel shooting factory Federal premium 308 /168 Berger hybrid hunter ammo. I ended up winning that round for my class (f-tr) as the wind picked up and started gusting pretty bad.

The most Recent Shoot 2 Hunt Podcast “we suck at shooting” talks a lot about 10 round groups and zeros. Definitely worth a listen.

I tested 4 different factory loads, with 2 different suppressors, through my tikka 308 last weekend and that federal/berger load was the best. Hornady precision hunter with the eldx was a close second.

I've said it a lot, and I'm going to keep saying it: a 10-round group does not give a "better" zero compared to a 5-round group. I compare 5- to 10-round groups all the time (and many other round count groups), and the center is the center. That's not a guess either, and I have a ton of targets to showcase it.

Achieving an average location can be done with very few rounds, just like achieving an average MV can be achieved with very few rounds.

Anyone that sees large inconsistencies between the 5-shot group center and the 10-shot group center has a shooter and/or gear issue. And a 10-shot group does not fix the underlying shooter and/or gear issue(s).

Well, most guns and most shooters do have issues. But, once again- I offer you the same deal. Meet @Ryan Avery and I, I’ll buy 5 rifles with you standing there, Leupold Mark 5’s and Hornady precision match or hunter ammo. You can shoot all of them and demo your assertions.

Honestly, I don't know why this is a point of contention for you, and I also don't know why you can't consistently recreate the same results.

I can. With rifles that average sub 1 MOA for twenty rounds. That’s not real for the vast majority of rifles or people. Why I say what I do, is because I see dozens of different shooters from “average” hunters to world class that near anyone would recognize, and see that what you are saying does not work across the board. Multiple ten round groups does work- consistently. Across the board with everyone. And, it gives everyone a realistic representation of what they and their rifle can do on demand.

Like I said before, a 10-round group (or multiple 10-round groups for that matter) will not achieve a "better" zero, nor do they mitigate an underlying gear and/or shooter issue(s).

Yes, they do. Taking a single 5 round group and zeroing off that has a large variability in POI. As in .3 to 1 MOA variance from true center for the vast majority of rifles/ammo/shooters. A single ten round group will brings those same rifles/ammo/shooter to sub .5 MOA. Generally it will be around .1 mil.

If you wouldn’t shoot a single 5 shot group and then adjust and slip the turret and go; then you have admitted that 5 shots is not enough data to make a decision.

This is easy to prove- take the offer given.

40 rounds out of the 6 5 creed today, half 130 eld handloads, the other half 143 eldx. Adjusted the scope after the first 143 group.

These groups are dramatically better than my tikka 223, can't wait for my pva prefit to show up.

Tikka T3x, factory plastic stock (aggressively free floated with Dremmel), vertical grip, sims recoil pad, and Leupold Freedom. Factory stainless 22” barrel.

Shooting prone with Harris bipod, and bag of 8 corn hole bags for rear support.

Temp. 92, real feel 119.

I fired one entire box, 20 rounds, factory Hornady American Whitetail 117 grain .25-06 interlock. No barrel cool down other than time to reload mag. and keep shooting. All rounds fired in a row while sweating balls and getting annoyed to death by swatting flies and sweat bees. Not pristine range conditions.

The smart guys on here can calculate the MOA. First round was top left shot.

EDIT: range was 100 yards with right to left wind at 5-6mph.

Dude. Move somewhere else.
Mid August in Iowa... Corn and beans are mature and sweating their a$$es off every night to provide lovely humidity. Add a hot/damp southern breeze and she gets pretty tropical in these parts.

I wanted to provide another data point for the hot barrel theories abounding on here. I can tell you after 3 rounds my .25-06 is pretty hot. After 20 in a row, I could've cooked on it I swear.
