Show me your MDT HNT26 Builds - 7 PRC?

For the folks with the 7PRC and up to 30 cal magnums, did y’all have to bed the MDT HNT26? Picked one up and will swap from my XLR but not if I have to bed the chassis for accuracy issues.

Swapped over to the HNT26 from XLR finally. Shaved about 0.3 lbs. rifle sitting as shown (excluding bipod) with 3 rounds of 7PRC is 8.6lbs. Happy with the feel of the rifle. Interested to see how it shoots.

When using such a light chassis, would using a 6.5cm VS a 6.5PRC result in a significance defence in recoil as opposed to what that difference might be when using a heavier recoil? I wonder how much weight I should be giving to this when choosing a calibre for a HNT26

I’ve run both in a HNT26 and an XLR Element 4.0mg. It’s not a big difference.

The biggest pain in the butt is they make ultralight polymer mags that fit a 6.5cm but not a 6.5prc. The 3rd MDT 6.5cm mag weighs 1.3oz, and the 5rd metal 6.5prc mag weighs 4.6oz. So a 3.3oz penalty for basically no gain.

I’d go 6 Creedmoor and get the best of both worlds. 6.5cm recoil and polymer mag plus 6.5prc range.

Thanks for your helpful response!

I had not considered the 6creedmoor until now. The rifle will be meant for White Tail and Moose, so I'll need to look into terminal ballistics for this round that I am not yet familiar with.

I most often use 6.5x55 (M96 or M41B), but never considered that for precision shooting because it is so difficult to find high-quality/consistent ammo (I don't hand load)

The Exo guys killed 2 giant moose with the 6 creed this year.

It looks like 13.5 is max LOP you can get from a HNT26? I am looking to get 14" LOP, any aftermarket products I'm not aware of that will help. I see that OBI recoil pad, but not sure if it adds LOP as well.

you can stack as many LOP spacers as you want.

Check out the new stock from backfire! Its pretty much built to be better than the hnt26 at a lower price and 100% made in America. Oh its also going to be sub $1k

I want him to do a Howa mini inlet something bad. Looking at things like the elf owl chassis just doesn't get me excited

They will do anything just have to give them a bit of time to scale up.
I wonder if they would go through the effort to make it take how mags or if they would make it fit Howa bottom metal. I honestly don't hate the idea of a hinged floor plate on that chassis.

I doubt they change mag well but who knows?? We need a extended hinged floorplate!
