I think i called mdt am they said for 7prc Tikka the 3.560 300 wm metal mag with the feed lips modded was their rec

Heres mine, but its not a 7prc. .223 wylde with a 16" 8 twist barrel. With a fully loaded 10rnd mag, weighs 8lb 7oz. So how many rokslide demerits do i get for the leupold / savage combo?

I just found they are now offering new magazines for the long action. I have not had good luck with the long action metal magazine for my rem. mag. The belts have hung up on each other and the base plate has slid off when pulling it out of a scabbard. Hopefully these new magazines will be the answer.

Has there been any rumors of MDT or @Unknown Munitions making a polymer long action magazine for the Tikka/HNT26 chassis? Even a metal magazine would be fine as long as it wasn't as heavy. It would be nice to have one that worked well in 6.5 PRC/7 SAUM/7PRC

Bumping this thread. Thinking about swapping from the XLR to the HNT26. Saw some random posts a while back with people having issues with accuracy in the HNT26 with the 7PRC. Anyone willing to share their experience with bigger magnums in the HNT26?

I sold my HNT26. It was a 300prc. Main reason it was difficult to get in and out of my Kifaru gun bearer due to buttstock design. Second is that my ARCA foreend was smaller than my RRS SC-LR and my bipod would slide forward under recoil and fell off the chassis while at the range practicing. To remedy that I installed an M-lok Pic rail. So those two things made me send it down the road.

I've got one on my 7SS. I like the design and how it carries, but the buttpad they ship with it is total shit with any more recoil that a 6.5CM. I found a limbsaver pad I could drill an extra hole it and it lined up pretty well.

Accuracy hasn't been an issue and the WSM SA Hawkins Hunter mag fits perfect and gets rid of the snag points of a 3rd accurate mag.

Alright boys, just snagged a decent sale on the MDT HNT 26. Going to try it out on my 7PRC and swap the XLR for it. Hope I like it. Anyone know the exact weight difference between the long actions?

Yeah. I hear ya there. For whatever reason the 7 SAUM never caught on with factory available ammo. It's a fantastics cartridge but you kinda have to reload for it. That said, if you jumped into reloading there's a load of info on this stubby cartridge.

The 6.5 PRC is probably the closest option to the 7 SAUM that has really good factory options. I just like a 7mm for elk and don't really want to run a bunch of different rifles.

Has anyone build an MDT HNT26 in 7 PRC?

I'm about 99% decided that I want a 7 PRC for my next back country elk rifle. For a little while I was leaning toward at Tikka Roughtech and rebarreling it for 7 PRC, but the more I look at the MDT HNT26, the more I want to build one, and I figure it wouldn't cost too much more.

Thinking about the Tikka LA on the MDT with a Proof or Preferred barrel (I really love the SS fluted barrels but open to CF as well).
