Deer and elk rifle — Tikka 7PRC

I have a custom 300 rum with a Bartlein barrel, mcs stock, the whole works done. It weight 13 pounds suppressed. Really nice gun and it cost me $4k. I also have a 22" t3x 6.5 prc that I put a $300 krg echo on. Weighs probably 10 lbs. And cost me $1k

My cousins from Ohio were out here in Mt for spring bear hunt. Guess which gun they liked more. 7 prc isn't in the same class as a 300 rum but just having them shoot a 6.5 prc at 8x-10x at 1300 instilled a huge boost of confidence for them. They both spotted hits at 1350 yds. They also originally wanted heavier caliber but both left not wanting anything bigger than a 6.5.

I've always shot magnums and my 6.5 prc is the lowest recoiling rifle I have and it's by far my favorite to shoot. Can't recommend a smaller caliber enough!

You guys have sold me on the smaller caliber and I’ve switched my sights to the 6.5 PRC. I’ve been looking around quite a bit online. These two have caught my eye. Both already threaded with muzzle breaks. Very reputable companies. Is the Tikka still the better move?

I have a tikka veil in 6.5 PRC with a credo HX scope. Easy to shoot and is insanely accurate and reliable. The one elk I shot with it got absolutely hammered. I too was considering a 7 PRC, but the 6.5 PRC does everything I need.

Euro optic was blowing out T3x Lite SS in 6.5 PRC for $749.

HOWEVER, the 7mm PRC does not have excessive recoil. I don’t use brakes or suppressors and place the 7mm PRC and 7mm Rem Mag between the 270 and 30-06 as far as recoil.

I shoot a T3x in 300 Win Mag with zero problems. It’s a factory rifle with about 16oz of scope rings and scope. I also shoot a 338 Win Mag and a 375 H&H quite a bit. Do I shoot them as easily as a 223, no. But do I shoot them well enough to hit vitals out to 400 yards or so, absolutely.
